Tragic Accident at Ijen Crater: Chinese Tourist Falls to Death While Taking Selfie
- The Incident
A Chinese tourist died after falling from the top of a 75-meter-deep cliff at the Nature Tourism Park, Ijen Crater in Banyuwangi, East Java, last Saturday (20/4). The victim, who was accompanied by her husband and a tour guide, had been busy taking selfies with her husband before the tragic incident occurred.
- The Fatal Selfie
The victim and her husband had climbed Mount Ijen to witness the sunrise from the top of the crater. While taking turns taking selfies, the victim walked backwards towards the edge of the crater, lost her balance, and fell into the ravine. The steep terrain and difficult location made it challenging for the SAR Team to retrieve the victim's body.
- Rescue Efforts
The SAR Team worked tirelessly to retrieve the victim's body, but the 90-degree slope and steep terrain made it a daunting task. It took two hours to finally lift the victim to the top of the crater rim. "The terrain is steep with a slope of 90 degrees," said AKP Djunaedi, adding that the victim's body was later taken to Sanglah Regional Hospital, Denpasar Bali, to be repatriated to China.
- Investigation and Aftermath
The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety precautions and responsible behavior when engaging in tourist activities, particularly in areas with challenging terrain.

- The smokehouse on the Rockland County property.
Rockland County, NY, US. In March 1985 some young boys found a charred and mutilated corpse in a smokehouse on the Rockland County property of a family named LeGeros. The victim – wearing a black leather hood was used in sadomasochistic rituals – turned out to be Eigil Dag Vesti, a handsome young fashion student from Norway who had been missing from his downtown Manhattan haunts for several weeks. It soon developed that Vesti had been murdered in a bizarre sadomasochistic scenario created by 57th Street art dealer Andrew Crispo and his assistant, Bernard LeGeros, a son of the couple who owned the estate. LeGeros confessed that he had fired the gun that killed Vesti, but said that he had done so at Mr. Crispo's behest.
- Eigil Dag Vesti was a young fashion student from Norway. He studied at the New York Fashion Institute of Technology. (he was so finee. )
- Eigil Dag Vesti with a friend in 1984.
- The mask on display at the Rockland County Sheriff's Department.
- District Attorney Kenneth Gribetz shows newsmen the leather mask and survival rifle which police say were used in the killing.
A leather mask was partially covering the victims face, and through the winter months there had been substancial animal scavenging on the corpse. An identification was possible through dental reccords and also visually on the preserved part of the head. This case became known as the Death Mask Murder case.
- The body showed evidence of animal scavenging.
- The face of the victim, which was partially covered by the mask.
Vesti was apparently a willing victim who got more than he bargained for. Meeting Crispo at a bar, Vesti went home with him, where he was savaged in the way he seemed to crave. But then, flying high on cocaine, Crispo began to talk of killing him, according toLeGeros's testimony. The two, taking along a rifle, drove Vesti up to the Rockland County home of LeGeros's family, and after some more wild action, according to LeGeros, Crispo gave the order to shoot. And LeGeros obeyed. "He snapped," Crispo later said.
Crispo was not charged in the case. Apart from LeGeros's testimony there was no corroborating evidence, so Crispo went scot-free. Subpoenaed for LeGeros's trial, he took the 5th and 14th Amendments, which protected him from being forced to testify against himself. However, soon afterward, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for income tax evasion – he owed almost $4 million on income of $10 million – a sentence later reduced to five years, of which he served three.
- Andrew Crispo was arrested, but was not charged in the case.
Soon after his release from prison in 1989, a massive explosion leveled Crispo's cherished house in Southampton, where he had hung some of his most prized works of art. (Before his imprisonment, sales of part of his collection at Sotheby's and Christie's netted Mr. Crispo and his creditors nearly $20 million.) But in 1991 a jury awarded him $8.6 million from the Long Island Lighting Company – which admitted that an accident in the form of a gas leak under the house had been the cause.
In 2019 Bernard LeGeros was paroled after serving 3 decades behind bars for the crime.
- Bernard LeGeros ended up serving 3 decades in prison.

i hate goresee because it has about a million trackers. posting it here for some easier access~
lots of idiots (yet funny ones) commenting about "what are they supposed to do?" i will reply to your comment with the exact same answer i told everyone else — "it was a bear enclosure. there was likely bear spray. They could have also not gently tapped the bear with a pole and instead use more force instead of yelling at it."
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know you need to put more force on a strong ass bear, literally ripping a guy apart!

From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Vladlen_Tatarsky
On 2 April 2023, a bombing occurred in the Street Food Bar No.1 café on Universitetskaya Embankment in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Russian military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, real name Maxim Fomin, died as a result of the explosion and 42 people were injured, 24 of whom were hospitalized, including six in critical conditions.
Russia accused Ukraine of being behind the attack and labelled it a "terrorist act", while Ukraine blamed the attack on "domestic terrorism". The National Republican Army also claimed responsibility for the attack. Darya Trepova was convicted of the murder in 2024.
Background
In 2022 and 2023, a number of Russian businessmen were found dead under suspicious circumstances. In addition, Ukraine was accused of being behind attacks against pro-war figures, such as in the killing of Darya Dugina.
Vladlen Tatarsky was an influential Russian military blogger with more than 560,000 followers on Telegram. Before his death, he criticized Russia's strategy in the Russian invasion of Ukraine but was also a staunch supporter of the invasion.
The café where the explosion occurred belonged to Yevgeny Prigozhin. The Cyber Z Front discussion club gathered there on weekends.
Explosion
According to several sources, including Russian authorities, Vladlen Tatarsky was offered a statuette by a woman, which is thought to have subsequently exploded. The power of the explosives inside of the statuette was reportedly more than 200g of TNT equivalent. The explosion caused the front of the café to collapse. Police were called to the scene at 18:13 local time.
Victims
According to the Ministry of Health, one person (Tatarsky) died. By the evening of 2 April, the number of wounded rose to 42. Twenty-four wounded were taken to medical institutions in Saint Petersburg from the café. The condition of six wounded people was assessed as serious.
Suspects
Russian law enforcement agencies started investigating the incident shortly after it occurred.
A resident of Saint Petersburg, Darya Yevgenyevna Trepova (born 16 February 1997), was considered as a suspect by the Investigative Committee.Investigators believed that she brought to the café a box with a bust of Tatarsky, in which an explosive device was mounted. She had earlier been detained for 10 days, along with her husband, after attending an anti-war protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 for apparently ignoring police orders to disperse.Russian officials also claimed she was an "active supporter" of jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
On the next day, in the morning of 3 April, the Investigative Committee announced that she had been detained after being placed on the wanted list earlier that day. Trepova's husband, Dmitry Rylov, said that she was detained at the apartment of his friend Dmitry Kasintsev, who was also detained, according to The Insider. Russian authorities did not confirm a second detention. Rylov, a member of the fringe opposition Libertarian Party of Russia, stated that "she would never kill" and that he believed she was framed.
In a video released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Trepova confessed to bringing in the statuette but unconfirmed reports by Russian media stated that she had told investigators that she had been set up and was unaware that the statuette had contained a bomb. In the video, she appeared to agree that she brought the statuette to the café, but didn't answer to the interrogation about the origin of the statuette.
Russian officials said that the possibility of Trepova being conned was not ruled out.
Russia accused Ukraine of organising the attack; the National Anti-terrorism Committee accused Ukrainian intelligence services and supporters of Alexei Navalny of being behind the attack, echoed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who called it a "terrorist act". Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak blamed the attack on "domestic terrorism" and "an internal political fight", while Navalny's allies rejected the accusation and said it was more likely Russia's own intelligence services were behind the attack.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner Group, paid tribute to Tatarsky in a video after the attack.[34] He also said that he would not blame the Ukrainian government for the attack, instead saying he believed there was a group of radicals.
On 4 April, the National Republican Army (NRA), which previously claimed to be behind the killing of Darya Dugina in August 2022, claimed responsibility for the attack. The NRA did not provide any evidence for its claim.
Investigation and legal proceedings
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia which criminalizes acts of murder.[40] The next day, the Investigative Committee decided to change the article to article 205, which criminalizes acts of terrorism.
On 4 April, Trepova was charged by the Investigative Committee under the criminal code with a "terrorist act committed by an organized group that resulted in the deliberate infliction of death on a person" and the "illegal carrying of explosive devices committed by an organized group". Terrorism can carry a life sentence in Russia,[43] though this does not apply to women. Consequently, Trepova faces up to 20 years in a penal colony if convicted. She was initially remanded in custody with a release date of 2 June,[46] but that was subsequently extended to 3 September. Trepova was brought before a court on 15 November, to be charged with carrying out a terrorist attack, illegal trafficking of explosive devices and forging documents.
On 25 January 2024, Trepova was sentenced to 27 years in prison, one of the longest prison sentences ever given to a woman in modern Russian history.
Aftermath
President Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Courage to Tatarsky posthumously.

Young Rafael Bruno Pereira Sobreira, aged 24, was shot dead inside a business in the municipality of Epitaciolândia, in the interior of Acre, this Wednesday (18).
According to police information, Rafael is a resident of the neighborhood and was going to a store to buy cigarettes, when he was surprised by an armed criminal who arrived on a motorcycle and wearing an Epitaciolândia City Hall uniform.
The bandit shot Rafael in the back and, after the victim fell, fired several more shots. The other people who were in the commercial establishment were not injured. After the action, the criminal fled the scene.
One of the hypotheses cited as the cause of the crime by the Military Police would be the sexual orientation of the victim, who appeared in a photograph making gestures of a criminal organization. However, the faction does not accept homosexuals and allegedly ordered the young man to be killed.
In an audio sent to ContilNet, a witness confirms the police version. "All of this he died because he posted a photo. You know that gays can't join the faction. They killed him out of cruelty," he says.
The case will be investigated by the Epitaciolândia Civil Police.
