Happened on February 3, 2022, around 6:10 am in Bąkowo near Warlubie, Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland [53°34'44.1"N 18°36'53.6"E]

71 years old school bus driver, employed by PKS Grudziądz - a company hired by Gmina Warlubie to commune children to local school - was waiting at a railway crossing for a train to pass.

After the train had passed, barriers opened and bus drove onto the tracks.

Suddenly the barriers closed again, trapping bus on the tracks.

After around 15 seconds, female bus passenger got outside and triend braking the barriers herself.

When she saw the train approaching, she ordered the bus driver to ram the barriers.

Bus strarted to slowly move forward, but it was too late, train from Gdynia to Wrocław rammed it at high speed.

Bus driver died on spot. The female bus passenger was not injured (she was still outside the bus, when it was hit). No one on board of the train was injured.

Context 1 (Article from the day of the accident)

Around 8:15 AM on the 2nd, an accident involving two passenger cars occurred on the Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route in Ukishima, Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. The Kanagawa Prefectural Police High-Speed Unit arrested Yosuke Hikota (50), a company executive driving the car that collided from behind, on the spot for violating the Road Traffic Act (negligent injury) = from Minamikasai, Edogawa Ward, Tokyo.

According to the High-Speed Unit, Hikota's luxury Porsche rear-ended the passenger car in front, killing a man and a woman in the car. It is believed he was trying to overtake, and he admitted to having gone over 100 km/h, acknowledging that he was driving too fast.

The woman was thrown out of the car due to the impact of the accident, and the High-Speed Unit is investigating under the assumption that Hikota was driving at a significant speed. While the suspect was not injured, a man riding with him was hospitalized after suffering abdominal injuries.

The accident site is on a straight section of a three-lane road with a speed limit of 80 km/h.

Context 2

In August 2020, on the Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route in Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, an accident occurred where a sports car rear-ended a passenger car, resulting in the death of the married couple inside the passenger car. On the 19th, the Yokohama District Prosecutors Office indicted the driver of the sports car, a 52-year-old company executive from Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, on charges of dangerous driving resulting in death. The response to the charges has not been disclosed.

According to the indictment, on August 2, 2020, the defendant was driving the sports car on the downward lane of the Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route in the same area. While in the third lane (overtaking lane), he significantly approached and overtook a line of six vehicles, which were traveling in the second lane (middle lane) over a distance of about 330 meters, with the intent of obstructing them, at speeds of approximately 200 to 268 km/h. Furthermore, when a medium-sized refrigerated truck, which was the second in the line of six vehicles, changed lanes from the defendant's front into the third lane, the defendant entered the second lane at about 200 km/h and rear-ended the leading vehicle of the six, a passenger car driven by a 70-year-old unemployed man from Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, killing him and his 63-year-old wife who was also in the car.
