In a tragic incident reported from Malaysia, at least tenpeople were killed after two Malaysian Armed Forceshelicopters collided mid-air on Tuesday. The unfortunatecrash reportedly took place at the Royal Malaysian Navy(RMN) base in Lumut this morning.

A video of the mid-air collision has surfaced on theinternet showing a group of military helicoptersperforming manoeuvres over the air base when two ofthem collided leading to their crash. According to initialunconfirmed reports from local news outlets, all those onboard the two helicopters did not survive the crash.

According to local reports, it is suggested that theM503-3 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) hadseven crew on board, while the other, M502-6, had threemembers on board. Both the helicopters were reportedlyundergoing formation training in conjunction with NavyDay scheduled to take place from May 3-5.

The Royal Malaysian Navy issued a statement aboutthe incident on their official account on X. In its pressrelease, the Navy confirmed the death of ten personnelin the crash. Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia, the naval armof the Malaysian Armed Forces confirmed the crashinvolving two choppers this morning.

"TLDM confirmed that a TLDM Maritime OperationHelicopter (HOM-AW139) and a TLDM FENNEChelicopter crashed during the 90th TLDM Day Paradeparade at Lumut Base at 9.32 this morning," said therelease.

"This incident involved a total of 10 people, namely 7HOM TLDM crew and 3 Fennec TLDM crew respectively.All the victims were confirmed to have died at the sceneand were sent to the Lumut TLDM Base Army Hospitalfor the identification process" the release further statedgiving information about the deceased ones.
