Attack at Be'er Sheva Central Bus Station - Update

As previously mentioned, police forces were called to the Be'er Sheva Central Bus Station shortly after receiving reports of a security incident.

The Southern District Commander, Major General Amir Cohen, arrived at the scene and is currently conducting a situational assessment.

Numerous units from the Southern District, including police officers, YASSAM (special forces), Border Police, and volunteers, are near the scene, setting up roadblocks and conducting searches to rule out any suspects who may have fled the area.

Contrary to various reports, there is no additional security incident currently taking place in Be'er Sheva.

Louisville Metro Police released body camera footage Tuesday of the officer shooting outside a Walmart near the Fairdale neighborhood after an armed carjacking attempt late last month.

The video shows an LMPD officer, identified as Brandon Brinkley of the Third Division, arriving at the scene of a car accident Aug. 28, involving a red Chevy truck, before quickly heading toward Peddlers Mall after being told by Kentucky State Police that the passenger, a white man in an orange shirt who was allegedly armed, fled the scene.

In the video, Brinkley enters a Walmart and attempts to locate the man — later identified as Randall Allen, 37 ― while asking shoppers in the area for a description. A witness described him in an orange shirt, seen discarded in the store before Allen exited through the front of the building in a white shirt.

Brinkley chases Allen around the building, saying "You better stop," while the man jumped into the passenger seat of a minivan at the store's pharmacy drive-thru window.

After Brinkley turns the corner to face the vehicle, it appears to lurch forward and then stop.

Brinkley repeatedly tells the man to "get out of the car" while the van's engine is heard revving and the female driver of the vehicle is heard screaming. An annotated video by LMPD released alongside the raw bodycam video says Allen "was pressing the gas with his hand" while the victim kept her foot on the brake.

After telling Allen four times to "get out of the car," Brinkley fires the first shot through the windshield, close to the dashboard, just left of center, while the driver was still in the car. The LMPD-annotated video says Allen was "trying to maneuver gear shifter" just before Brinkley fired the first shot.

Brinkley moves closer to the vehicle, where he again shouts at Allen, then tells the driver to "get out of the car." Allen's hand can be seen near the steering wheel and Brinkley fires the second shot near the middle of the windshield, aimed toward the passenger seat.

Following the second shot, the driver begins to exit the car while Brinkley fires a third shot through the windshield, followed by the fourth and final shot after the driver was completely out of the vehicle.

Brinkley continued to yell for Allen to put his hands up for several seconds.

"My arms are right here. I can't move. My right arm's f----- up," he said. "I didn't do anything. Why'd you shoot me?"

Four additional officers arrived at the scene and surrounded the van, eventually pulling Allen out onto the ground. Body camera footage shows what appears to be a weapon being removed from Allen's front pocket while he was being handcuffed. In the annotated video, LMPD Assistant Chief Emily McKinley said it was "a realistic-looking replica."

When asked about a second weapon, Allen told officers "it's in the van," although body camera footage does not show the gun. McKinley said the "second handgun, which was real, was discovered on the floorboard of the vehicle." A photo of that reported gun was included in the annotated video.

The shooting followed a chase of a different vehicle — in which Allen was a passenger — by Kentucky State Police on the Gene Snyder Freeway, LMPD Interim Chief Paul Humphrey said. That car exited onto New Cut Road and collided with another. KSP arrested the driver, identified as Jeremy Bozarth, but Allen fled.

Court records show KSP troopers began a pursuit after noticing an expired license plate, a suspended license and expired insurance and registration linked to Bozarth's car.

Allen faces several felony charges, including resisting arrest, fleeing police, wanton endangerment, robbery and possession of a controlled substance, according to court records. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Brinkley, hired in November 2022, is a transfer from Lebanon Junction, with more than 15 years as a law enforcement officer. Department records from LMPD show no history of disciplinary action, and Brinkley is on administrative reassignment while the Public Integrity Unit and Professional Standards Unit investigates.

The LMPD standard operating procedures state that: "Department members will not discharge their firearms either at, or from, a moving vehicle except in response to gunfire, potential gunfire or in the rare case where the vehicle is intentionally being used as a weapon against the officer or others. Officers will not discharge their weapons at vehicles simply because a subject is attempting to flee. Officers will avoid tactics that unreasonably place them in a position where the vehicle can be used as a weapon against them."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The suspect who ran away from police and tried to drive a woman's car in the Walmart pharmacy drive-through appeared in court Friday morning.

Randall Allen sat quietly with his head down and at one point it seemed like he was crying during his preliminary hearing. Detective Brian Peter with LMPD's public integrity unit that investigates officer-involved shootings testified about the events on Aug. 28.

Peter explained how Allen got from a crash scene to the Fairdale Walmart pharmacy drive-through. Peter's report, including witness testimony from Allen and police body camera, confirms certain details like Allen fleeing from police, entering Walmart and forcing himself into the victim's car.

Peter said Allen disobeyed police commands that resulted in Officer Brandon Brinkley firing his weapon and striking Allen multiple times. Reports say he was hit in his arm.

The questions raised during the hearing were about what happened inside the car. Peter says some parts are hard to see.

The woman told officers Allen approached her and ripped open her door with a firearm. Allen's attorney argued if Brinkley could visibly see Allen's gun or knew if Allen had a gun at that time.

Police did recover a gun in the car. The victim says it was not hers.

Another argument was about the wanton endangerment charge. Peter says Allen was trying to press on the gas and rev the engine in the direction of Brinkley prior to the shooting.

The victim says her foot was on the brake.

The judge decided probable cause was met for eight charges including wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

His bond remains $50,000 full cash. His next hearing is scheduled for late October.

Between August 1951 and November 1956, he took the lives of six women, three of them girls aged fifteen or sixteen, and one man. He shot most of the victims, beat the first murdered woman with a stick, and beat the last one with an axe. He tried to strangle several other women, and raped others. He also sexually attacked very young girls, including children

Václav Mrázek was born on October 22, 1925 in a poor and numerous family in Svinařov (about 10 km north of Kladno). He had 11 other siblings and the whole family lived in a disused railroad car. Mrázek attended only 5 classes of elementary school and after finishing compulsory schooling, at the age of 15, he started working as an auxiliary worker on construction sites. Mrázek stole from childhood and gained his first experience with justice at the age of 16, when he earned a suspended sentence for one of the thefts (a poor family even supported him in the thefts). The people around him considered him a weirdo, a little shy, but a decent, tactful and hardworking person. Even though Mrázek stole practically constantly, he got into trouble with the law again at the age of twenty-four, when he was sentenced to eighteen months in prison for one of the other thefts.

Mrázek was a quiet and boring person who did not drink, smoke, or indulge in carbane. In the pipe rolling mills in Chomutov, he even made it to foreman with his hard work and conscientiousness. Among his hobbies, which were really few (also thanks to his "scrupulosity"), perhaps only going to football or hockey games and bike rides...it was during these that he often sought out his victims.

After his arrest, Mrázek admitted that the idea of using violence in a sexual act was probably brought to him by frequent reading of pornographic literature and also experiences from orgies. He allegedly took part in these during his time in the guard unit, where he volunteered in 1946, i.e. at the age of twenty-one (the activity of the unit of the guard unit after the Second World War often consisted of accompanying shipments of American aid abroad, mainly to Romania and Bulgaria). "...I saw that soldiers, out of fear of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, pointed pistols at their female companions threateningly if the woman was sexually infected. At that time I also started having sex with women. I also slapped the gun as a warning so that I wouldn't get infected. I had intercourse with women here daily. I endured maybe four sexual intercourses a night, mostly with young girls... here I also got my hands on reading about obscene things from the soldiers. For example, I read about a noblewoman who was sexually repulsed by the sight of footmen having intercourse with a maid in front of her. The footmen then tied this maid to a post and let a donkey ride her. They further teased this maid naked through the forest with the help of dogs, until the dogs tore her apart... I later sought out such reading in the Czech Republic, and it strongly aroused me sexually. I imagined that I was, for example, in the place of a man who does some violence to a woman, for example with a whip, so that she submits to him.'

However, in normal contact, Václav Mrázek behaved reservedly and shyly towards women. He delayed a lover's kiss and everything else for a long time. One of his friends, A. Kargerová (she kept in touch with him between 1951-1954), therefore considered him impotent. Mrázek was not even thirty years old yet, but sex with his partner less than once a month was enough for him. However, as the reader will see further on, it was not his lack of interest in the sexual area as such (Mrázek even masturbated several times a day), he was just not interested in "classic" sex without sadistic components.

However, let's not get ahead of ourselves and let's go back to Mrázek's youth for a moment and summarize what happened after returning from the above-described internship with the guard unit, where he worked for about a year. After he returned to Chomutovskogo in 1947, he started working as a worker in the Chomutovskogo steelworks, and in the same year he started compulsory military service, which he performed until May 1949. Then, in September 1949, as already mentioned, he was imprisoned in eighteen months for one of the thefts. He was dismissed in February 1951. Subsequently, he took a position as an auxiliary worker in the pipe rolling mills in Chomutov, where he worked for several years and, as already mentioned, worked his way up to the position of foreman. At that time, only half a year remained until the fatal attack on his first victim...

Mrázek committed his first murder on August 21, 1951 near the village of Drahonice (Karlovary region, formerly Kadaň district). His victim was 15-year-old Hana Chloubová, who was herding cows at the time. The killer used as a weapon a strong stick that he found near the crime scene. He then struck the victim with a stun gun to the head and sexually abused her. When the girl regained consciousness after the rape, the attacker killed her with several more blows to the head. "…I wondered if some violent form of intercourse would satisfy me. I tried it for the first time with the shepherdess at Ohře and felt an extraordinary sexual satisfaction that I had never experienced before. For about a fortnight after the crime, I was afraid that I would be caught, but it was finally suppressed by the experiences I had during intercourse with the murdered pimp... But the most sexually satisfying cases were when I got women with a shot..." Body of a young, beaten the girl was found by her father in the evening of the same day. This first murder was not considered part of a series by the police throughout the investigation, and Mrázek claimed responsibility for it only after his capture.

For the second murder, Mrázek had already armed himself in advance - he took a pistol with him. On September 16, 1951, he shot and then abused thirty-two-year-old Bronislava Pajůrková by the road between Jirkov and Kyjice, near Chomutov. He described his crime as follows: "It was getting dark, but it was Sunday, I was still meeting some young women. They had an escort, but looking at them I began to feel a strong sexual excitement, which was manifested by rushes of blood to the head and later by headaches... When I saw the lone woman walking towards me, my head started to ache, my nerves were working hard and in that I had to shoot. It was simply the thought of getting the woman shot...Shooting the woman made me even more sexually excited, and so did her collapse and fall."V. M. ended up shooting the woman several times. He then dragged her off the road to a meadow, where he stripped her, robbed her and dragged her naked to a nearby stream, where he sexually abused the already dead woman. However, the volume of the shots probably scared Mrázek. He realized that the evening's silence could have carried them far into the surrounding area. Maybe that's why he took a knife next time.

On October 7, 1951, armed with a knife, he attacked Anna Šestáková (28 years old) near Kamencové jezera near Chomutov. However, the blade of the knife stuck in the jawbone instead of the throat. The attacker chased the fleeing woman to the nearest house, where she was saved by a loud scream, after which the resident of the house came to her aid. The force and desperation of the scream also caused Mrazek to ejaculate at the same moment and his interest waned.

On November 16, 1951, shortly before midnight, again with a knife in his hand, he attacked Erna Meinlová on the road from Chomutov to Spořice. He struck her eighteen times in the chest and abdomen, but the girl survived. The blows were conducted with relatively little physical force. This fact did not "only" result in the victim's lucky survival, but apparently also provided Mrázek with experience, after which he changed the type of weapon again... The police were also "confused" by this attack, and it was certainly not connected to previous attacks. One of the investigative versions (due to the short stature and low physical strength of the perpetrator) was even that the attack could have been committed by a woman out of jealousy.

On June 1, 1952, a party was held at the Horeneck pub, located just a few kilometers from Chomutov. The frost murmur and the sounds of music attracted. After some time, when he watched the revelry going on through the open window, the sight of the dancing women excited him. He got on his bike and started commuting through the countryside, looking for his next victim. Around midnight, on the road between the solitude of Seník and the village of Přečáply, he met twenty-two-year-old Elen Marmonová. He attacked as he passed her. The first fired projectile flew through her collar and apparently through her hair. The victim herself, who was the only one to survive the shots from Mrázek's Walther 7.56 mm (the gun used by the killer), then explains: "I was startled by the first shot and leaned forward" - the second shot then pierced the fabric of the coat in the back area, but thanks to the young woman's forward bend, she was facing outwards. "I kept thinking someone was playing a silly prank on the alarm clock. What are you talking about? I tell him. And he shot me a third time. But again I wished for luck. The shot didn't go off, something happened to his gun. He said to me almost kindly: So burn it, you cow! And he disappeared." She later described the attacker by saying: "He was so small, poor, all in black. There was nothing bright about him."

Unfortunately, Elena Marmon was not the only woman Mrázek attacked that night. He ejaculated during the first shots and his desire weakened, but in less than an hour he was again cruising around Hořenac on his bike, where the fun had just ended. On June 2, 1952, thirty-five minutes after midnight, a number of people in the vicinity of Seník heard gunshots.

When Elen Marmon woke up in the morning, she saw that her coat had been shot through in two places. "It suddenly dawned on me that it wasn't an alarm clock! As if in a trance, I went outside, again to the places where the person shot at me. Not far from Přečápel, at the level of the transformer that still stands there today, I saw such strange grooves on the side of the road. As if someone was dragging something over a scarp into an alfalfa field." After that, Marmonová stepped into the field and after a few meters she discovered the sexually abused, half-naked corpse of a girl who belonged to the sixteen-year-old Maria Dvořáková. An interesting feature at the place where the victim was found were the shoes placed and carefully aligned on the girl's breasts (the shoes belonged to a friend of the murdered woman, who had arranged for a ride on a motorcycle for fun). In the investigation protocol, the perpetrator's words regarding this murder are recorded, which testify to his cold-bloodedness during the crime: "She was walking on the road and I was riding a bicycle in the opposite direction. As I passed her, I fired my pistol and drove on. About twenty or thirty more meters. Then I stopped and waited a moment to see if the shot had caused any commotion. Then I returned to the corpse, dragged it to the field and...", Mrázek continues: "Looking closely, I noticed that her face was covered in blood, and from that I concluded that I had shot her in the head. I was horrified at the sight of the blood, so I threw a coat over her face, which had come off while dragging her. Then I removed her skirt, panty and abused her. It started to rain while I was abusing her. I took her skirt, I think about 50 kroner and nothing else - I think - nothing. Then I took my bike here again and rode towards Chomutov. I passed through one village and criss-crossed the next village. In the end, I threw the skirt somewhere behind a fence or something like that." Elen Marmonová, who narrowly escaped death and announced the discovery of the corpse the next day, took the events of the previous night away for several weeks spent in pre-trial detention.

Mrázek committed the fourth murder on 17-year-old Jiřina Helmichová on July 14, 1954. On that day, Helmichová had a meeting with her boy in a wood called U jezírek, near the village of Černice in the Litvínov district, about 30 km from Chomutov. On the way, Helmichová met several passers-by. Unfortunately, she was late, so her boyfriend was no longer waiting for her at the agreed place. On the way back, she met Mrázek passing by on his bicycle. He missed her, but stopped a few meters away and called her. When the girl turned around, he killed her with a single shot directly to the face. He then pulled the girl aside and sexually satisfied himself as usual on the murdered.

The last murder near Chomutov and the last murder with a pistol was committed by Václav Mrázek on August 9, 1955. Unfortunately, it was even a double murder. The victims were a couple of lovers - 19-year-old Libuše Dufková and 26-year-old Karel Trlifaj. That evening they were walking together on the road between Chomutov and Březen. Mrázek approached them this time in his own way. First, he killed the defending Karel Trlifaj with three blows, and then Libuša Dufková, who was fleeing from behind, with one blow. The next day, the girl's corpse, which was in a position typical of a sexual murder, was discovered by a passing cyclist. The called detectives also found a young man. His corpse lay in a escarpment nearby.

Mrázek himself described the murder as follows: "I walked quickly because I thought I would be home soon. When I walked along the road for about 500 m, I saw a couple standing by the ditch next to the road - i.e. a man and a woman. When I got close to them, they saw me and continued walking in front of me towards Chomutov. I was suddenly so envious that they liked each other so much, while I lost the girl I liked, and I couldn't help myself, I pulled out a gun and ..."

At the time of the last attack, a special crime team was established to deal with Mrázek's sexual murders. Criminal investigators had a description of the perpetrator, they also knew that the perpetrator had size 42 feet and was still murdering with an identical Walther brand pistol. The police checked all known sex offenders in the district, including everyone who wanted to leave the Chomutov district, interrogated men matching Mrázk's description... A total of 25,000 people were checked! Unfortunately, all without success. Former criminologist Major František Švandrlík comments: "We received reinforcements from Bohemia and Moravia, the wider area was turned upside down, but the desired success still did not come. Not that there weren't results. We had every sexual deviant in the county under our thumb. Only the main one eluded us! We secured a lot of weapons, quite a few waltrs, but none of them were the right ones. I also took some pistols to Prague on my motorcycle. Since then, I have a personal time record on the route Chomutov - Prague. Don't ask how much, they would have to fine me. Even today..."

Why did the sexual sadist and necrophiliac Mrázek escape justice for so long, even though he murdered in a relatively small area of the then Chomutov district and the immediate surroundings? And why did he even manage to get a couple of lovers out of the district and move to Kladno despite the ubiquitous police patrols after the murder?

Among the reasons were Mrázek's perfect mimicry - an "orderly", quiet, hard-working, unremarkable man. Mrázek did not even arouse suspicion among his two relatives, who were members of Public Security. Another reason was great luck. In one rape attempt, which took place in June 1955, Mrázek attacked only 12-year-old Maria Černíková. He knocked her down and choked her, but out of nowhere he let her go and ran away. It was moments before two men appeared on the scene hearing the child's screams. Later, Mrázek testified: "I didn't know about them, but it made me nervous that I wasn't able to silence the girl. She screamed for too long and that was dangerous." Another time, two girls, walking from an afternoon film screening in Kralupy near Chomutov towards the village of Ahníkov, noticed an unknown man. He stood barely a hundred meters from them, blocked the narrow dirt road with his bicycle and waited. The girls ran back to the nearby railway station. However, when a few daredevils set out to catch the unknown cyclist, they found only traces of galuses, nothing more.

Mrázek committed similar attacks on minor girls in many cases during his several-year spree. Above all, in the two-year period between the third and fourth murders, i.e. in 1953 and 1954. He attacked the girls in different ways and on different occasions. Alone and those who were in a group of other children. In 1953, he made 4 attempts to rape young girls. In the spring of 1954, he was unfortunately already "successful" and committed 5 completed rapes. All the girls were between the ages of 6-12. In some cases, he also beat and strangled them. Mrázek committed his last murder on November 9, 1956 in his hometown - Svinařov. Unlike previous sexual murders, in this case it was a so-called cover-up murder, which followed a disclosure during a search of someone else's house. That evening, Mrázek broke into the house of miner Ladislav Beran, one of his superiors from the Nejedlý I mine, whom he knew was at work at the time. The original intention was only to steal, but V.M. could not find anything of value, so he gradually made his way through several rooms to the bedroom. Here, fifty-six-year-old Alžběta Beranová, the wife of L. Beran, who woke up and recognized Mrázek, became his victim. He subsequently killed her with several blows with an ax that he had previously found in front of the house. Lieutenant Colonel Vaněček recalls: "We had a witness who saw the course of the entire murder! It was Beranovic's granddaughter, ten-year-old Jarmilka, who slept with her grandmother on double beds. She was awakened by a scream and saw a man hit the grandmother several times on the head with an ax. Then he asked the girls where they hid the money. Together they found about sixteen hundred in the bedside table, which was the local firemen's money. Aries acted as their treasurer. But the Berans had the family savings, about ten thousand, hidden in a bandashka in the kitchen. The granddaughter didn't know about them and the killer didn't find them." However, that was not all. Mrázek stopped in the backyard while leaving, returned and raped Alžběta Beranová's ten-year-old granddaughter. Mrazek had a handkerchief over his face the whole time, so the young girl described the man as: a small, weak gentleman who had evil eyes. Again, the killer was not caught.

Only his constant petty thefts became fatal for the Mrázkovs. On March 17, 1957, as usual, Mrázek was searching the pockets of the clothes stored in the locker room of the Nejedlý I mine. Just at that moment, an injured mine worker came to the locker room and went for treatment. He caught Mrázek in the act, detained him and, despite Mrázek's pleading, alerted Public Safety.

Because things were often lost in the mine's locker rooms, a routine search was made of Mrázko's apartment, where he lived with his girlfriend at the time. "Perhaps everything in the apartment was stolen, including the most ordinary household items," recalled Karel Kamiš, a retired criminal investigator. However, during this search, the police also discovered Niazi's razor, which was missing from the house of the murdered Beranová, and Mrázek was suspected of being more than just a thief. That's why the police started looking for the pistol in the apartment, which was used for the murder in Chomutovska. "It took us a long time, we didn't know where to look anymore. So I imagined the size of the gun and looked around to see where the gun could be hidden. When my eyes fell on that ponk (the pistol was found in the basement, in the hollow base of the wooden ponk)...During the same search, we also discovered a watch that belonged to the murdered Pajúrková. Mrázek hid them in the heating pipe, right next to the basement ceiling."

The very next day, a ballistics test was performed at the Institute of Criminal Investigation - its result was positive. After four days of questioning, during which Mrázek confessed only to minor property crimes, he broke down in tears on the night of March 21st and 22nd during the several-hour night interrogation and confessed to all seven murders. This was followed by a detailed description of all the acts, when, for example, he described how he treated the corpse of one of the shot women: "I knelt down next to the dead woman, my genital organ was still erect. I squeezed her breasts hard, reached her stomach, then spread her legs, grabbed her calves, lifted her legs up and performed intercourse on her. It lasted about three to five minutes. Then I stood up, bent down and pulled her pubic hair with two fingers. I still did this out of sexual excitement. Then I turned her over on her stomach and spanked her buttocks furiously." Another time he spoke about his sexual preferences: "During the winter months, I didn't show so much sexual drive. It was enough if I masturbated three or four times a day. In addition to seven murders and 4 attempted murders, Mrázek was eventually convicted in court of 14 cases of sexual violence against minor girls (8 attempted and 6 completed cases). He was also accused of 33 cases of burglary, 12 cases of laundry theft, 16 cases of theft of small domestic animals, 6 thefts of bicycles and dozens of other petty thefts, which he committed either alone or in pairs with his brother Karl. In total, Václav Mrázek was accused of 127 criminal acts!!! Among the items that Mrázek stole, apart from watches, jewelry and cash, there were also absolute curiosities. It was, for example, sweets, clothes, a bamboo stick, 70 kg of apples, a tablecloth, a box of butter or a bottle of hard-boiled eggs.

On November 9, 1957, Václav Mrázek was found guilty by the District Court in Chomutov of the crimes described above and sentenced to absolute punishment - hanging. On December 5, this judgment was also confirmed by the Regional Court in Ústí nad Labem. The execution was carried out on December 30, 1957 in Prague's Pankrác prison
