Multiple fatalities and one guy in convulsions from sour gas (H2S) exposure

My dad who worked on oil fields in Alberta told me about sour gas and how a single breath of it can cause immediate collapse and death. Deaths from sour gas are fairly common in the oil industry.

Immediate symptoms in low concentrations are irritation in the eyes nose and throat, headache and coughing. Symptoms in moderate levels include Eye and respiratory irritation, headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. Symptoms of high levels of sour gas H2S poisoning are severe eye and respiratory irritation, breathing difficulties, headache and nausea, dizziness and confusion and loss of smell. Very high concentrations, above 200 ppm, can lead to intense respiratory irritation and problems breathing, shock, convulsions, loss of consciousness and pulmonary edema.

Lethal concentrations (above 500 ppm) causes rapid loss of consciousness, respiratory paralysis and death.

Modern safety protocols have made sour gas incidents less commonplace, most stories my dad told me of sour gas happened in the 90s, so finding videos of sour gas accidents is quite hard in the modern day.

They sent down three people to rescue two, and only one rescuer had some type of oxygen tank and mask? Odd choice

I think this specific video wasn't in Canada because everyone is speaking in a different language and the whole place just doesn't seem like something you'd find in Canada. Probably somewhere in the Middle East as there's lots of oil there as well as in Alberta and safety regulations aren't as strict in many middle eastern oil fields which leads to more accidents similar to what you would've seen in 1970s Canada

You're right, this isn't Canada based on the language and accent of the man in the video; he's from the Middle East, specifically Egypt

Lived near an oil rig once and you could smell the rotten egg gas in the air, it's foul as hell. Real toxic stuff, not a good way to go at all.

Being fat means I get significantly less sexual harassment than if I were thin. Fat people are harder to roofie and haul out of a public place. You'd need, like, 6 people to get my dead weight out the door, someone will for sure notice that and ask questions. Fat people are harder to kidnap. Staying fat means I don't have to worry about any of that.

And for all of you talking about heart disease (which I don't have) and all the other, “BuT yOu'Ll DiE sOoNeR.” First off, I don't have retirement, I have student loan debt instead, nor do I own a house or have kids. Already did the math and I can't financially afford to exist much past the age of 65. Also, have you seen the effects of climate change??? Shit's about to get dystopian bad over the next few decades, why tf would I wanna be around for that??

So imma eat the food that tastes good and if you have a problem with that, that's fine cause I wasn't planning on sharing it with you anyway 😂
