Man Filming Demolition Killed By Flying Debris

A passer-by who stopped to film a building demolition in Russia got too close to the action and filmed the moment he was fatally wounded by a piece of flying debris.

Evgeny Titov, 29, was recording the destruction of an old home in western Russia's Lipetsk Oblast on Sunday when he was fatally struck by a hail of bricks and rubble, NTV reports.

The 29-year-old had taken a break from his place of work nearby and was filming the demolition when he sustained the injuries that would lead to his death in hospital a short time later.

This website has caused me to be overly cautious out in the world now. I work in a science lab and when I run centrifuges now, I go to the other side of the lab just in case something happens and it breaks. You just never know.

Generally speaking, a safe fall-zone would be over twice the distance of the height. For instance, if this building was 20 meters tall (give or take) then you should be at least 40 meters away.

Sad. This should’ve been restricted access. I remember seeing a video similar to this one. To stand this close though… I’m just scratching my head…
