Canoas, Brazil: A 23-year-old man died on Monday after getting tangled in a live wire in Canoas, in the Metropolitan Region. He was riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident. The cable had come loose during the storm.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 am, on Guaporé Street, in the Mathias Velho neighborhood. The victim worked at a gas station and died while riding a motorcycle on the way to work.
Witnesses reported that a street near the wiring was isolated with three cones. They point out, however, that the darkness made it difficult to see the cable.
João Ives lives in the area and called SAMU after the incident. He claims that the wire came loose at 1:30 am, and that the motorcyclist got his foot tangled up when he passed by there, around 5:30 am. The driver was burned to death and had both feet and the tips of his fingers cut off.
"As soon as the wire came loose, I tried to alert the company through the app, but I didn't get any response. The motorcyclist's body was on fire for hours. It was a tragedy waiting to happen," said the resident.
The report is trying to contact RGE. There has been no response so far. The space remains open. The Civil Police, through the 1st DP of Canoas, is investigating the case.
