Suffering is relative.. people only know the worst thing they've experienced. That's why it's easy for some to get complacent (especially first world), despite having certain advantages compared to others.

I think that's why some of us are here.. when you see the most depraved things humans are capable of, unimaginable to you at first, not only are you more equiped to protect yourself and others - you can find some solice and perhaps appreciation for your situation.
