Unironically, and I know that I'm fucking unhinged, but I'm excited to see all the data we'll get in the next decades. Advancement in psychology has ground to a halt since ethics prohibited children getting tested on, on top of otherwise risque studies being outlawed. Notice how desperate we are for stories like Genie's or David Reimer's. These abuse victims had scientists flock to them like mosquitos because it's the only way we get any meaningful data of how kids that aren't coddled from birth grow up. Just imagine how much we would learn about our psychology if we could test on perfect twins. Doesn't even have to be anything terrible, but just separating them from birth and seeing how differently they turn out. But we're always working backwards, because you can't actually willingly subject children to this sort of stuff, so we only get data when this stuff is discovered afterwards.
So, I'm glad that so many parents are willing to put their children through hormone therapy at a young age, as it will give us a LOT of data. We will learn an insane amount about the difference in psychology between men and women, and how much credence there is to being trans, and whether it's closer to a delusion or something legitimate. Up till now, both sides have just been arguing with laughably incomplete data, which is no way to shape such strong opinions. I also think the people of this site should be more open minded, as we live in very exciting times.
