It sounds like we a similar. I do the same and love taking a few guns with me and family and going to some farmland we have and setting up targets. I live in the Southeast currently and I'd say through work and friends about 75% of the people I know have one or more guns in their homes. That being said, I have two friends that were co-workers at a previous company I worked for and all they want to do is work OT every week and they typically make double their salary with all the OT. Why? Because they are addicted to buying firearms. They would literally buy a new rifle or handgun every two weeks when the paycheck rolled in. Even crazier, most of their guns they had never even shot and just had them for show in a gun room in their house. I guess there are a good many people that become obsessed with their hobbies/collections and it consumes them. I agree with your take on "it's possible that the more gun owners we have that are properly trained and strong mentally, the less casualties there would be during rampages". A crazy thing happened to me just this past weekend that I loved seeing. I was buying a vehicle that my wife had test driven earlier that day and I was conceal carrying a 9mm, as I do often. While I am sitting down to start paperwork and go over numbers I notice a guy walk in with a gun on his side, clearly open carry. He is just chatting away with another sales rep when I notice a second guy come in also open carrying! I was sitting there thinking this is wonderful! I've always wondered what if you had about 25% of all men (calm down people, just running a hypothetical here, my wife likes to shoot to!) open carry in most all normal places of business? Every restaurant you go in, Mall, grocery store, movie theatre, gas station, etc!....you would see 1/4 guys carrying a gun openly. Sure, conceal carry gives you a hidden defense in a potential time of need...and I know plenty of people that won't open carry because they feel they become a target in a mass shooter scenario, valid point. But if it became normalized for there to always be multiple people in a heavily populated area to visibly be armed....is this not a huge deterrent for those thinking about going somewhere and taking as many lives as possible at random? Hell, look at all the people that hate cops in the states....but you don't ever hear about anyone going into their nearest police headquarters and attempting to kill a bunch of cops at random. I love that there is a reason that doesn't occur....and that same reason could possibly be implemented in many other places. The fact is, with all our people in the country, and all their guns, the huge majority of those gun owners are responsible, law abiding citizens.....and if those individuals ever decided to all open carry what they own......most of the badasses would simply get in line and learn to respect their surroundings. Sure, you'd still have the mentally ill that a have a death wish, but the mass shootings would start getting even more targeted to places in which firearms are not legal...as they wouldn't make it far anywhere else. Damn, look at me I wrote you a book! Apologies!

Who gives a shit how many we have? As i said, we aren't the only first world nation that allows its citizens to own guns. We're not even the most lenient when it comes to gun laws. So again, if other countries' citizens have guns too, but they're not shooting eachother like we are, are the guns themselves the problem or are the mentally unwell people who largely get ignored by society the problem?

You want to know the most efficient way to take out an active shooter? Shoot them. You can’t talk them down or stab them, could you? More responsibility and guns is a win regardless. Cocain is illegal but I could get it down the street. Same with an illegal gun. At least mine could be traced back to me instead of me owning them illegally and committing as much crime as I want without being traced. If a store is being robbed by 2 people with guns but there’s 5 customers carrying responsibly, I highly doubt that store is getting robbed lmfao. Maybe a criminal gets taken out, so Fuckin what lol.
