That is sort of how a very very jacked Ralph Fiennes escapes in the movie Red Dragon where he plays the titular serial killer who idolizes Hannibal Lecter who at this point has been captured and is being used for information before the events of silence of the lambs
Anyway, he has a blind girl at his house and he blows his head off (or so we think) and then escapes after burning the house (with his supposed corpse still inside) so the cops think he killed himself he goes and attacks Edward Norton one last time.
Unrelated but I thought the movie Red Dragon did a much better job of the Red Dragon plotline than the TV show Hannibal.

They do this in every video because it’s just procedure. As obvious as it is, they can’t assume that this guy is dead. They are obligated to provide medical aid to try to save this fool until someone qualified pronounces him dead. National emergency medical services guidelines call for medics, at a minimum, to immediately check their patient’s airway, breathing, and vital signs. Otherwise you would be effectively withholding life saving intervention and that strays into some morally dubious grounds.

it would be cool if police could be trained and qualified to not only take lives, but save them as well. Basic stuff, yknow? Like CPR, applying bandages to wounds, ect. Waiting for paramedics to arrive seems like a big waste of time, especially in cases like this. His head went kablooie. he's not gonna recover. I notice a lot that police tend to just stand around while people bleed out, OR– even better– force them to the ground, cuff their hands and choke them until backup arrives. Imagine how fucked up it'd be to get shot by a cop, you're paralyzed and gargling on blood, unable to breathe and the cops just like "Welp, he dead." 🙁

Uh cops have to render aid. They do get training in CPR and basic field training measures, such as applying a chest seal for a thoracic gunshot. Obv you haven’t been around here much, but if a cop shoots someone, the cop immediately has to turn around and render aid to that person or else he/ she faces major consequences- either losing their job or criminal consequences. What the guy above was saying is that the cops can’t legally pronounce them dead because they aren’t medical personnel- they still save lives every day, more than they take, contrary to misinformed popular opinions like your aforementioned.

I’ve personally met a dude who took almost a dozen 9mm bullets and survived. There was even one still lodged (harmlessly) underneath his skin the doctors forgot to remove! I’ve met a man who survived being stabbed with a knife and beaten with a hammer. But I’ve never met anyone who survived being hit with buckshot. I’d imagine this is because instead of putting a hole straight through you like a bullet would a shotgun has the tendency to practically tear you in half.
