Imagine being forced into trench warfare like it was 1914 but in May 2023 instead, complete madness I don't blame him from noping out of that situation....

I've been thinking about this, too- it's so bizarre to imagine a modern battlefield resembling the early 1900s, with massive trench networks and little bunkers and fox holes everywhere. Especially given the nature of drone warfare- it's been discovered that a very cheap drone can drop a variety of very cheap explosives with damned near pinpoint accuracy, from an altitude where conventional weaponry is useless.

Trenches seem like perfect targets for these drones. You can only move in one of two directions, so it's harder to juke them, it's harder to run in a trench, and you can't quickly/easily scramble out of it most of the time. Putting a bunch of infantry in these while drones are filling the sky... it's like you just dug a very long grave. I'm amazed nobody has seemed to equip their infantry with good countermeasures- this poor bastard shooting at a drone with a rifle didn't have a chance. Maybe they should start handing out birdshot?

Never thought we'd talk about trench warfare and birdshot on the battlefield in 2023. What the fuck is this timeline.

Youd think it would be standard to have some type of EMP unit to knock those things outta the sky. Fuck i think ive seen lasers at festivals take down drones. Its like the ruskies were never told about tech advancments past the 80s and are sending units with no idea what they are getting into. Like the lack of awarness of what they are getting themselves into i cant wrap my head around it.

It's like they are begging to lose by sending soldiers in trenches and fox holes like it's in the the 1900's with drones flying around.

I have put 0 thought before asking this question however what do you suppose would be an ideal combat environment or counter to these drones?

Put your men behind machinery and remote weapons like drones themselves. Any anti-air weapons would be better. As for the environment there legit isn't a better way I can think of.

A shit-ton of netting spread on top of the trench, so they couldn't see you readily, and also prevent the grenade from exploding on top of your head.

If I was one of those dumb Russians sent to slaughter, I'd be dialing that toll-free surrender number, and fucking over to the Ukrainian side. Definitely beats your dick getting blown off.

It looks like that 2nd grenade severed his spinal cord. He loses instant control of his legs.
