100%. I always wonder when people ask these questions. Go stand on the top step of a 6-ft ladder and then fall directly on your head slash neck. If you're not dead you will more than likely be paralyzed. The 2x rule was something I heard from my parents also. A 10 to 12 ft fall can easily be fatal.
