A traffic accident occurred at the Seongnam Naegok Tunnel, which connects Seocho-gu, Seoul, and Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, on September 21, 2018, around 11:50 PM. A car carrying a man in his 50s and his son in his 20s was hit by another vehicle that was speeding and intentionally collided with them. As a result, the victim's car exited the tunnel and plunged into a nearby drainage ditch.

After the accident, the father and son were rescued by emergency responders and immediately transported to a hospital near the Naegok Tunnel.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the physical condition of the father and son was assessed. The son had suffered a spinal injury, while the father had sustained severe traumatic brain injury caused by lung damage and a skull fracture, leaving him in a critical and inoperable condition. Due to physical therapy required for the spinal injury, the son's idol debut was delayed by 1–2 weeks, preventing him from fully stepping onto the stage. The father fell into a coma as a result of his brain injury.
