CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two motorists died in a road mishap along the viaduct of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR), Cebu City on Wednesday, April 10.

Authorities from the Cebu City Traffic Enforcement Unit confirmed that an accident occurred involving a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) occurred along the highway past 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The driver and the passenger of the motorcycle, however, were declared dead on the spot.

Officials continue to verify the identities of the victims. But based on initial reports, the driver was working for a ride-hailing app and was on duty at the time of the tragedy.

According to the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), the motorcycle was heading south while the SUV was traversing the northbound lane of the viaduct. However, the motorcycle suddenly hit the center island of the highway.

Due to the impact, both the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, with the driver hitting the incoming SUV from the opposite lane headfirst, investigators said.

Phnom Penh: Two fish sellers, siblings on a motorbike, suspected of being overly sleepy, hit the fence of a villager's house, causing immediate death at the scene on the morning of April 5, 2024, along National Road 5, commune Prek Taten, Ponhea Leu District, Kandal Province. Both victims are Vietnamese, with the older sister and the younger brother.

On November 21, 2021, Darrell E. Brooks Jr. drove a sport utility vehicle (SUV) through the annual Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States, killing six people and injuring sixty-two others.

Around 4:39 p.m. (CST), 39-year-old Darrell Brooks drove in his red 2010 Ford Escape SUV, moving at about 40 miles per hour (64 km/h), past barricades and through the annual Christmas parade in Waukesha. One police officer banged on the hood of the SUV in an attempt to get Brooks to stop. In the final stage of the rampage, an officer fired his gun in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The parade was live-streamed, and other attendees captured the incident on videos later posted to social media. Two eyewitnesses told reporters that the driver did not initially stop; all they could hear was people screaming and crying. One witness described the driver as "calm and composed". Police reported that the driver deliberately targeted the crowd, driving in a "zig-zag pattern" to hit as many people as possible.

During the immediate aftermath of the ramming, five people were confirmed killed and forty-eight others were injured. The five dead were identified as four women and one man. Four of the dead were members of the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies, a dance group composed solely of grandmothers.

Hospitals admitted twenty-eight people, nine of whom were in critical condition. Seventeen children were among the wounded, with three remaining hospitalized at Children's Wisconsin until early December. By November 23, two days after the incident, the number of people reported injured had increased to sixty-two and the number of fatalities had increased to six after an eight-year-old child died at a hospital. The ages of the dead ranged from 8 to 81.

On the day of the attack, police recovered a damaged Ford Escape and arrested 39-year-old Darrell Edward Brooks Jr., born on February 21, 1982, who was born and raised in Milwaukee and has an extensive criminal record dating back to September 1999. A note, that was written according to police records, stated that in his early days in Milwaukee, Brooks was raised without a father but had a supportive mother. His grandmother wrote a letter to the court that Brooks began living with bipolar disorder at the age of 12, after he was hospitalized for mental health conditions in 1994. Brooks also didn't complete his high school education after he was charged with his first felony on September 5, 1999, for substantial battery while he was a junior at high school at the age of 17. He was sentenced to two years in jail, three years of probation, and six months at Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center in nearby Franklin.

Brooks was arrested on the night of the attack, soon after he told a Waukesha resident that he was homeless and asked to use his phone to call an Uber. The man was unaware of the events that had occurred and permitted Brooks briefly inside his home, giving him a sandwich and letting him borrow a jacket, but asked him to leave when police arrived. Brooks left the man's home and surrendered to police without incident.

It is believed Brooks acted alone and did not know anyone at the parade. Police investigated whether he was fleeing from a nearby domestic disturbance when encountering the parade. The police chief said, "We have information that the suspect, prior to the incident, was involved in a domestic disturbance, which was just minutes prior, and the suspect left that scene just prior to our arrival at that domestic disturbance." He also said that Brooks was not being chased by police when he drove into the parade route. Prosecutors alleged that Brooks was trying to "strike and hurt as many people as possible."

In January 2022, Waukesha Court Commissioner ruled Darrell Brooks would stand trial for a Christmas parade attack due to ample evidence. Brooks pleaded not guilty in February. Defense motions for a different trial location and judge were partially granted. During the trial, Brooks represented himself, using sovereign citizen arguments. His disruptive behavior led to restrictions. In the closing, he advocated for jury nullification, leading to objections. The jury found him guilty on all counts, and he was sentenced to multiple life sentences and 762 years of initial confinement and 305 years of extended supervision for the 2021 vehicular attack.

A fatal accident occurred on 11.1.2015 at three o'clock in the afternoon on the 116th km of the road Yekaterinburg - Rezh - Alapaevsk. The owner of a Renault car failed to cope with the control and flew into the oncoming traffic lane, ramming a VAZ 2109 car.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the domestic car died at the scene of the accident, and two of his passengers, including a 13-year-old child, suffered fractures.

Two 19-year-old university students died in an accident in the early hours of Sunday morning (7) on Avenida Norte-Sul, in the Parque Residencial Laranjeiras neighborhood of Serra. The car they were in hit the wall of a condominium.

Natiele Lima dos Santos and Luma Alves da Silva were studying Information Systems and, according to family members, had been at a party in the center of Vitória and were returning home to Serra when it happened, at around 2.40am.

They were in the back seat of a Ford Ka and three other friends were in the vehicle. The two died on the spot, according to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).

The 24-year-old driver of the car told the Military Police that, while returning with his friends from a bar in the center of Vitória, he lost control of the vehicle on the Norte-Sul highway, near a residential condominium, and crashed into the wall.

He claimed that when he tried to slow down in the lane he was in, he changed direction onto the sidewalk, but was unable to return to the avenue. The car was removed to the Detran yard and was a total loss.

According to the police, the driver has a valid driver's license, but refused to take a breathalyzer test. According to the police, he had an odor of alcohol on his breath.

Two infraction notices were issued against him: one for refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test, clinical examination or other procedure to certify that he was under the influence of alcohol or another psychoactive substance; and the other for having the car's left rear tire "bald", "flat".

As well as the driver, Luma and Natiele, there were two other young men in the car, aged 21 and 25, the older of whom was Luma's brother.

The two young men were injured and were rescued by Samu and the Fire Brigade and taken to the Jayme Santos Neves Hospital in Serra.

The Civil Police were called in and sent the bodies of the university students to the Forensic Medical Department (DML) in Vitória.

The driver was taken to the 3rd Regional Police Station in Serra and was accompanied at the scene by a lawyer. He was not injured in any way. The Civil Police have not yet said whether he will be detained.

On Sunday morning, part of the car was still on the road. Shaken, Natiele's relatives were at the DML, but didn't want to give interviews. They just said that she and her friend were at the party and a friend had gone to pick them up.

A traffic accident occurred this afternoon (April 6) in Bao Son commune, Luc Nam district (Bac Giang) causing an 85-year-old man riding a bicycle to die on the spot.

According to some witnesses, at about 10:05 a.m. on April 6, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (born 1982) in Chinh Ha village, Lan Mau commune (Luc Nam) was driving a tractor-trailer with registration number 98F-012.63 pulling a trailer. - BKS trailer 98R-031.48 moving in the direction from Tam Di commune (Luc Nam) to Kep town (Lang Giang).

When arriving at the intersection of Bao Son town, there was a collision with a bicycle going in the same direction driven by Mr. LVP (born 1939) in Tien Do village, Bao Son commune.

The accident caused Mr. P to die on the spot. Immediately after receiving the news, Luc Nam District Police sent officers to the scene to investigate, resolve, regulate traffic, and avoid congestion.
