A 19-year-old soldier was killed in a train accident in Netanya on Wednesday.
The soldier was named as Yam Mesika, a resident of the northern city.
An initial investigation into the accident indicated Mesika fainted while waiting on a station platform and fell in front of an approaching passenger train.
Israel Railways said she had lost consciousness, fallen onto the tracks and been hit by a passing train.
First responders found Mesika unresponsive and attempted resuscitation efforts, but were forced to declare her death at the scene.
Mesika's funeral was held on Wednesday evening in Netanya's military cemetery.
Over 2,000 people attended the ceremony.
Mesika's mother, Ariella, said, "Yam, I love you so much."
"This girl over the years lit up my world," she said, according to the Ynet news site.
"My dear little sister, my princess, where did you go?" Masika's sister said at the funeral. "My beautiful sister, my world, give me strength. I love you, and we'll meet again."
Mesika is survived by her parents and three siblings.
The accident is under investigation.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev said she had instructed the ministry's director-general to find ways to block access to tracks while trains are in motion "to prevent similar tragedies from occurring."

Brazilian racing driver Rommel Toscan, 30-year-old, was a regular on the Campeonato Gaúcho de Marcas e Pilotos (Rio Grande do Sul State Makers and Drivers Championship), competing in the Class B since two years. In 2014 he managed to take a class victory in the 12 Horas de Tarumã, partnered with Luiz Sérgio Sena, Jr. and Daniel Elias. In 2015 he finished 14th in points.
Rommel Toscan lost his life as a result of an accident which happened at Autódromo Internacional de Tarumã, during the second round of the series on Sunday, 20 March 2016. He drove his black Chevrolet Celta #88, entered by team Giocar Racing. Toscan collided with Aírton Dill's car, after a slight contact with another driver. Both cars did not slow down on the approach to the fast Curva Três, but went straight at high speed, crashed hard into a tyre barrier and flipped over.
The race was immediately stopped and Toscan was transported to Hospital de Viamão where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission. Aírton Dill received minor injuries in the accident.
Rommel Toscan was the second Brazilian driver to die in March 2016; just one week before his death, Marcos Mocelin passed away at Cascavel hospital from injuries suffered in a very similar accident on 28 February of that year at the Autódromo Internacional Zilmar Beux in Cascavel.
A Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, native, Rommel Toscan ran a company specialized in equipment and system for water treatment in Estância Velha, where he resided with his wife and a son. His deceased father, Robson Toscan, had been a racing driver. Rommel Toscan was interred at the Cemitério Jardim da Memória in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil.

Two drivers of the latter were involved in a huge accident that proved to be fatal for one of them.
Brazilian racing driver Marcos Mocelin, 24-year-old of Cascavel, was seriously injured on Sunday, 28 February 2016, when his red Volkswagen Gol #16 entered by Equipe Ribecar, collided with César Augusto Chimin's Renault Clio. Mocelin was trying to overtake Chimin's car on the approach to the Sete turn into the main straight. Both cars left the track, crossed at high speed the run-off area and crashed hard into the wall of an embankment.
The race was immediately stopped and the remainder of the day's racing events were canceled. Mocelin was transported in critical condition to the Hospital Doutor Lima in Cascavel, where he succumbed to his injuries two weeks later, on Sunday, 13 March 2016 night; cause of death was from a brain concussion, hemorrhages and severe chest injuries. César Chimin, 48, suffered cerebral edema, lung injury and rib fractures in the accident.
Marcos Felipe Mocelin was survived by his sister, Camila, who was at the track with him; his wife, Anne (née Winiarski) and their eight-month-old daughter. Burial was at Ceméterio Jardim de Saudades in his hometown Cascavel.

An ex-Intelligence Bureau officer died after a speeding car stuck him while he was on his routine evening walk at the University campus, but the city police suspects it as a murder.
"Initially we felt it was a case of an accident, but after screening the CCTV footage, we came to a conclusion that it was a planned murder," Police told reporters. The incident took place on Friday evening. CCTV footage depicts a speeding car driven on a narrow lane on which the 82-year-old deceased R.K K. was taking his routine evening walk. As the car approaches near him the driver takes a sharp turn and hits him and escapes from the spot. The narrow lane is rarely used by car drivers. It appears that the accused was tracking him and the car did not have a number plate on it, police said.
Three teams have been formed to trace the accused and investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the motive behind the killing, they said. The victim had retired 23 years ago after serving in the Intelligence Bureau for over three decades. The victim authored 3 books after his retirement. One of them '…and yet God smiles' is a fiction narrating the tale of a family over its five generations. His other two books, however, were more discussed than this one. He wrote a book titled 'Sin of National Conscience' in which he went on to describe a sizzling account of intelligence operations.
His third book is titled 'Facets of Terrorism in India'. This book was launched in 2019 at the hands of Nirmala Sitharaman who was then Defence Minister. In the book launch ceremony, she said, "There are two types of terrorism in the country today — one is the Red Corridor and another Jihadi Terrorism. Both these types have taken deep roots here and if it has to be uprooted, then every citizen in the country must join hands with the Central Government
