In the deadliest terror attack in America in the last year, at least 15 people were killed and 30 injured when a vehicle plowed into a crowd in a popular tourist district in the US city of New Orleans, city authorities said Wednesday. The area is a popular tourist district in the southern city's French Quarter, and many people would have been out celebrating new year.

"The 8th District is currently working a mass casualty incident involving a vehicle that drove into a large crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street. There are 30 injured patients ... and 10 fatalities," NOLA Ready, New Orleans emergency preparedness program, said in a statement. It is said that the injured had been taken to five local hospitals. 2 of the injured are officers, according to Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick in New Orleans they are both in stable condition.

The mass causality incident occurred at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville in the city's French Quarter neighborhood at around 3:15 a.m., WGNO reported.

According to civilians in the area, the driver got out of the car after ramming into the crowd and began opening fire, can be heard in the first video below. Police fired back at the suspect, the outlet reported, citing witness accounts. "He was hell bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did... This man was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could," Kirkpatrick said.

The incident came toward the end of New Year's celebrations in New Orleans and hours before the kickoff of the AllState Bowl, a college football quarterfinal held in the city's Caesars Superdome, with thousands expected to be in attendance.

According to new Orleans police the man was not drunk and the ramming was completely purposeful, the motive is unknown yet. FBI New Orleans announced that IEDs were found inside of the vehicle.

The terrorist was identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar. Jabbar was carrying an ISIS flag in the truck, and authorities have said he was dressed in military gear as can be seen in the photo of his corpse and of his truck.

He was raised in Texas and was in the U.S. Army Reserve from 2015 to 2020. Additionally, according to Karol Markowicz of the NY Post and Fox News, he had a stolen Glock and a .308 rifle with him.

Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar has more than a decade's worth of experience in the military, records show, including a deployment to Afghanistan.

Mr. Jabbar, who the police said drove a pickup in a deadly attack in New Orleans early Wednesday, served in the Army from March 2007 until January 2015 and deployed once to Afghanistan, before serving in the Army Reserve until July 2020, according to a U.S. Army release. He left with the rank of staff sergeant.

The police went to his house and arrested other people inside of it, possibly an ISIS cell inside of Texas.

The crash occurred as Jeju Air flight 7C2216, carrying 175 passengers and six crew on a flight from the Thai capital Bangkok, was landing shortly after 9 a.m. (0000 GMT) at the airport in the south of the country, South Korea's transport ministry said.

Two people were found alive and rescue operations were under way, a Muan fire official said. Yonhap news agency said three people had been rescued.

Authorities were working to rescue people in the tail section, an airport official told Reuters shortly after the crash.

Video shared by local media showed the twin-engine aircraft skidding down the runway with no apparent landing gear before slamming into a wall in an explosion of flame and debris. Other photos showed smoke and fire engulfing parts of the plane.

The passengers included two Thai nationals and the rest are believed to be South Koreans, according to the transportation ministry.

The plane was a Boeing 737-800 jet operated by Jeju Air, which was seeking details of the accident, including its casualties and cause, an airline spokesperson said.

Boeing and the US Federal Aviation Administration did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

All domestic and international flights at Muan airport had been canceled, Yonhap reported.

South Korean acting President Choi Sang-mok, who was named interim leader of the country on Friday after the previous acting president was impeached amid an ongoing political crisis, ordered all-out rescue efforts, his office said.

The South Korean Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board (ARAIB) has stated that there was Partial Damage to both the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) aboard Jeju Air Flight 2216, and that they will likely have to be sent to the United States for decryption by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which could take up to 6 Months.

A second South Korean Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 faced landing gear issues but returned safely, Yonhap reports.

South Korea has ordered inspections of all Boeing 737-800s in the country.

Boeing 737-800 has been involved in at least 25 reported accidents since its introduction. The model is widely used globally, constituting about 15% of the world's passenger fleet.

As of early 2024, there have been 529 accidents involving all Boeing 737 models, leading to over 5,700 fatalities across various incidents.

In Kazan, Russia, a 20-year-old college student and gymnastics coach, Darya Arkhipova, was killed whilst riding a snow tube, or 'vatrushka', which was tied to the back of a car driven by her 22-year-old friend. Darya crashed into a traffic pole, and she ultimately died from her injuries.

The driver, Evelina Yakubova, drove Darya to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Afterwards, Evelina and a friend returned to the scene and, according to CCTV images, tried to throw fresh snow over the blood left behind. Evelina was arrested a few days later and has been preliminarily sentenced to house arrest.

A spectacular collision between a trailer and a tanker in the town of Pixtún left two people dead, including a 6-year-old child.

The fatal accident occurred on the Champotón-Escárcega highway, when one of the vehicles involved attempted a reckless overtaking maneuver, which ended in a head-on collision and a large explosion.

Jéfferson Camargo Felix da Silva is a 21 year old man who died after a serious motorcycle accident

This happened in São Manoel neighborhood, in Americana (SP).

The incident occurred in December 25 2024

Jéfferson was distracted using his cell phone while riding his motorcycle. Security cameras recorded the moment when he drove the motorcycle with one hand on the handlebars and the other holding the cell phone. He turned to face the direction of travel, but he collided with the pole at high speed a split second later. Da Silva was knocked off his bike and lay motionless with half his body on the pavement and the other half on the tarmac.

He fought for 8 days but despite medical efforts, he could not resist the injuries and later died on 2nd January. Jéfferson was known for his presence on social networks, where he shared his passion for motorcycles with more than 10,000 followers on Instagram. His profile, which identified him as a motoboy, brought several images next to motorcycles, reflecting his love for both wheels.

Three men were killed and another injured in a hit-and-run crash in Chicago around 5 a.m today. A sedan traveling southbound struck four men. Three men were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. Another man was transported to Stroger Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. No one is in custody. The crash investigation is ongoing.

Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan provided an update at a news conference Monday, where he confirmed that the car used to hit and kill the three men had been recovered four blocks from the pub.

Now police are asking for help tracking down the driver. "You can't charge a car with a crime. We need to know who the driver was," Deenihan said. "We know that people out there know that (identity)."

Deenihan called a video of the crash, which has been circulating on social media, "pretty horrific."

Judging from the footage, the crash seems to have been intentional, he said.

"It appears there was an argument inside that establishment (the Jeffery Pub) that spills out onto the street and that there's an ongoing altercation. And then you can see that this individual gets into the car and commits this horrific act," Deenihan said.

Though Jeffery Pub is a well-established gay bar, the investigation is not being treated as a hate crime at the moment, he said, but that could change once more witnesses come forward and a suspect is in custody.

"We have a lot of work to do still," Deenihan said of the active and ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident should call detectives at 312-747-8380 or leave an anonymous tip at cpdtip.com, police said.

The sedan was traveling southbound when it hit the men Sunday. Three of the men were transported to University of Chicago Medical Center where they were pronounced dead, and the fourth man was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. His condition was not given.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified two of those killed as Devonta Vivetter, 27, from Chicago, and Donald Huey, 25, from South Holland. The third victim has not been named pending notification of family.

The Jeffery Pub mourned the victims on social media, posting: "A very unfortunate tragic event occurred early this morning after closing.... Our hearts (are) heavy this morning that such a tragic event has occurred. And to those that lost a loved one or friend we stand with you."

A plane crash in Ubatuba, on the north coast, left one person dead and seven injured on Thursday morning (9). The fatal victim was the pilot of the aircraft, a Cessna Citation with the prefix PR-GFS.

According to preliminary information, the jet tried to land in Ubatuba, but crossed the runway and exploded when it reached the beach. The head of the runway is about 200 meters from the strip of sand.

Before exploding on the sand, the plane flew over the seafront avenue and passed close to a skate park.

Five people were in the aircraft. The pilot - who died - and four passengers, two adults and two children.

The total length of the runway at Ubatuba airport is approximately 940 meters long and 30 meters wide. However, in the case of landings made towards the sea - as in the case of Thursday's accident - the area available for landing is less than 500 meters, due to the airfield's proximity to a hill.

"After landing, the aircraft overshot the runway, crossed the fence at Headland 09 and hit a woman and a child," says Voa, the concessionaire for Ubatuba airport. "The weather conditions were poor, with rain and a wet runway," he adds. The accident occurred at around 10am.

Inmet (the National Meteorological Institute) had issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall on the entire coast of São Paulo, valid until 10am on Friday (10).

According to the institute, rainfall is expected to be between 30 and 60mm, with an accumulation of 50 to 100mm/day. Because of the rain, there is a risk of flooding, landslides and river overflows.

The experienced German driver George Plasa, 51-year-old, lost his life as a result of an accident which happened during the 2011 Rieti-Terminillo hillclimb. At about 14h25 on Sunday sunny afternoon, 10 July 2011, Plasa lost control of his BMW 134-Judd V8 on the approach to a sharp bend called "Curva Lelli", nearly the #35 checkpoint along the course, less than two kilometers from the finish line.

The car crashed head-on into an embankment, at an estimate speed of over 200 km/h (124 mi/h), being completely destroyed. Still trapped into the wreckage, the injured driver was reached by the rescue team's ambulance in a matter of minutes. His condition was severe enough for a rescue helicopter to be called to quickly evacuate him to the Policlinico Gemelli hospital in Rome. Sadly, Georg Plasa who sustained unsurvivable head and chest injuries and fractures, was pronounced dead on arrival.

A car electrician from München, Germany, Georg Plasa was a prominent figure on the European Hillclimb Championship scene, since his debut in 1990. A BMW enthusiast, he scored a number of class victories during his long career, competing in European, German and Italian hillclimbs. In 2011 he drove a BMW 134 sportscar that he had designed and prepared, fitting it with a 3.4-litre, 550hp, Judd V8 engine. Georg Plasa was laid to rest in the Friedhof St. Johann Baptist in Oberwarngau, Bayern, Germany. He was survived by his partner Maria.

This was reported to be the first fatality in the 50 editions of the Rieti-Terminillo hillclimb. The race, titled as "Coppa Bruno Carotti", was a round of the European and Italian hillclimb championships. After the accident all the other sportscar drivers still waiting near the starting line, refused to go on and the event was abandoned as a sign of mourning. Fabrizio Pandolfi in an Alfa Romeo 155 V6, a former DTM works car, who had set the best time at the moment, was declared the unofficial winner of the hillclimb.

Georg Plasa's memory was perpetuated by the "Georg Plasa Tribute". The trophy was to be awarded to the winner of the Group E1 class in the Rieti-Terminillo hillclimb. Winner of the first edition, held in 2013, was just one of Georg's best friends, Fulvio Giuliani of Bologna at the wheel of a Lancia Delta Evo.

On November 12, 2022, two World War II–era aircraft, a B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra, collided mid-air and crashed during the Wings Over Dallas air show at Dallas Executive Airport in Dallas, Texas, United States. The air show, which coincided with Veterans Day commemorations, was organized by the Commemorative Air Force.

Just before the crash, the air boss directed the bomber formation to fly parallel to the spectator viewing line, while the fighters were instructed to enter a trail formation and fly in front of the bombers. According to witnesses, the P-63F executed a high-speed descending banked turn onto the runway approach, colliding with the B-17 and causing both planes to break apart and burst into flames.

Drunk 41 years old man and his friend were travelling in a Volga car on route Tyumen - Nizhnyaya Tavda early in the morning.

On 29th kilometer of said route, the driver lost control and crashed into nearby trees at high speed.

The driver died on spot. According to the police, the passenger managed to jump out of the vehicle last second.
