Dr. Justin Obi was a Nigerian professor of chemistry at Cuttington College and Divinity School, currently Cuttington University. He was convicted for two murders on 19th of November 1969. Someone stormed the offices of Episcopal Bishop Dillard Browne (58 yo black American) and shot down both him and his assistant or secretary, Claude Nadar (Syrian national).

His age is given as either 32 or 65 yo, I don't know if this was just a mistake or a failed OCR. He earned his doctorate degree in physical chemistry in 1965 at Wisconsin University. He tried to go back to the US, but couldn't find employment.

After becoming a suspect, Justin Obi reportedly tried to flee to neighboring Guinea, but was apprehended in Gbarnga (around 10 km from the university and 50 km from the border). Cuttington students saw him and called the police. He was convicted in March 1971 in Monrovia, the capital.

In court, Dr. Obi claimed he had learned that certain non-African organisations--including the American Peace Corps and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) -- were trying to interfere in Liberian politics. After waving goodbye to the crowd, Dr. Obi entered the gallows house in silence and mounted the platform. His wife and child were in the United States.

Furthermore, President Tolbert had signed several death warrants since November 19, 1971 when he signed the first one, sending a Nigerian science professor, Justin Obi, to the gallows. Subsequently, eight other convicted murderers had been hanged, among whom his cousin William Tolbert who had killed his wife. The latest two executed murderers were Borbor Brown and Kekulah Vogbor, in 1978, who died from the capital punishment after much public attention.

On the night of July 20th 2012, James Eagan Holmes

parked his car near the exit door of Theater 9 at the Century 16 multiplex. Police said the Holmes bought a ticket for the movies to see The Dark Knight Rises, sat in the front row and about 20 minutes into the movie he left the theater through the exit door beside the movie screen which had direct access to the parking lot. He propped the door opened slightly with a plastic tablecloth holder. Around 12:30 am he reentered the theater. He was dressed in all black wearing a gas mask, a loading-bearing vest, a ballistic helmet, bullet resistant leggings, a bullet resistant throat protector, a groin protector and tactical gloves.

He was also wearing headphones listening to Techno so he wouldn't hear any of the audience members.

Once he entered there was a mix of emotions. Some believed it to be a prank while some were actually threatened.

It's said to be reported that Holmes threw a cannister to left, emitting a gas or smoke. He proceeded to fire a 12-gauge Remington 870 Express Tactical shotgun at the ceiling then then at the audience.

He also had with him a Smith&Wesson M&P15 semi-automatic rifle that eventually malfunctioned.

Finally he fired a .40-caliber Glock 22 Gen4 handgun which passed through the wall and hit three people in theater 8. The fire alarm began sounding soon after the attack began, and staff started evacuating theater 8.

POLICE RESPONSE:

First calls to 9-1-1 were made around 12:39am. It took police 90 seconds to respond. Some even reported the shooting via Twitter rather then calling the police. Unfortunetly, Ambulances were hindered by the chaos and congestion in the parking lot and were unable to reach the back of the complex where police where pulling injured out through the exit door of theater 9.

Around 12:45am, Police officer Jason Oviatt apprehended Holmes behind the cinema by his car without resistance. At first he was mistaken for another police officer because of his tactical gear. During his arrest he was described as calm and "Disconnected".

EXPLOSIVES:

Upon his arrest Holmes told the police he had bobby-trapped his apartment with explosive devices.

Police evacuated the surrounding area which including 5 building's which was about 5 miles north from the cinema.

The apartment held more then 30 homemade grenades, wired to a control box in the kitchen and filled with at least 30 US gal (110 L) of gasoline.

CASUALTIES:

12 fatalities were reported along with 70 injured by bullets. 4 peoples eyes were irritated by the tear gas and 8 were injured while fleeing the theater.

Shooter's Backstory:

Jeffery Spaide was born on June 16, 1973 and served in the U.S Navy during the 1990s, and was also in the U.S Navy reserve and U.S Army Nation Gaurd for periods of time. He also worked over 20 years as an engineer. His life was pretty normal until his fateful encounter with the goys. He got into an argument with them as a result of them all throwing snow onto each other's properties to dispose of it, and it resulted in Jeffery killing his 2 neighbors, then going into his own home and killing himself. (not shown in video)

What Happened:

As quoted from "Source 1": (see below) "On the morning of February 1, 2021, Jeffrey Spaide began arguing with James and Lisa Goy outside of their home in Plains Township, Pennsylvania. Like many of their earlier fights, this one centered on snow shoveling. The Goys shoveled snow from their parking spots and then moved it across the street before dumping it on Spaide's property. Soon afterward, Spaide emerged from his home and asked the couple to stop. They didn't. Instead, the conversation devolved into a heated altercation that involved Spaide and the Goys verbally threatening each other, hurling multiple obscenities, and calling each other names. “I'll make your life a living hell living here, dickhead,” James Goy angrily shouted at Jeffrey Spaide. Spaide replied, “What?… Fuck you, you fucking scum.” Then, James' wife Lisa yelled, “You're the fucking scumbag. You don't know how to talk to somebody.” James continued, “That's right… You're a pussy, pussy, pussy.” All of this was captured on surveillance footage, along with the violent escalation of the argument. In the video, Spaide is eventually seen walking down his driveway toward his neighbors, revealing a gun in his hand. James warned Spaide to “put the gun down,” but Spaide refused to listen. Instead, he began firing, hitting James first before moving on to Lisa. Though the wounded James attempted to flee toward his home, shouting for other neighbors to “call the cops,” Spaide soon shot him again. Meanwhile, the injured Lisa screamed, “You fucker, you!” Though Spaide was then seen walking back to his home, he wasn't done yet, Instead, Plains Township Police Chief Dale Binker said that Spaide only went inside to replace his handgun with an “AR-style rifle” so that he could continue firing on the Goys, essentially executing them. One of the last things Spaide said to his neighbors before killing them was this: “You should have kept your fucking mouth [shut].” Then, Spaide retreated to his home once more to shoot himself with a third rifle." Acid has been used in metallurgy and for etching since ancient times. The rhetorical and theatrical term "La Vitrioleuse" was coined in France after a "wave of vitriolage" occurred according to the popular press where, in 1879, 16 cases of vitriol attacks were widely reported as crimes of passion perpetrated predominantly by women against other women. Much was made of the idea that women, no matter how few, had employed such violent means to an end. On October 17, 1915, acid was fatally thrown on Prince Leopold Clement of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, heir to the House of Koháry, by his distraught mistress, Camilla Rybicka, who then killed herself. Sensationalizing such incidents made for lucrative newspaper sales.Similarly, multiple acid attacks were reported in the UK in the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. Again, these were seen as a crime carried out by women, although in practice perpetrators were as likely to be male as female.

The use of acid as a weapon began to rise in many developing nations, specifically those in South Asia. The first recorded acid attacks in South Asia occurred in Bangladesh in 1967, India in 1982, and Cambodia in 1993. Since then, research has witnessed an increase in the quantity and severity of acid attacks in the region. However, this can be traced to significant underreporting in the 1980s and 1990s, along with a general lack of research on this phenomenon during that period.

Research shows acid attacks increasing in many developing nations, with the exception of Bangladesh which has observed a decrease in incidence in the past few years.

The first known instance of an acid attack occurred in East Pakistan in 1967. According to the Acid Survivors Foundation, up to 150 attacks occur every year. The foundation reports that the attacks are often the result in an escalation of domestic abuse, and the majority of victims are female.

An acid attack, also called acid throwing, vitriol attack, or vitriolage, is a form of violent assault involving the act of throwing acid or a similarly corrosive substance onto the body of another "with the intention to disfigure, maim, torture, or kill". Perpetrators of these attacks throw corrosive liquids at their victims, usually at their faces, burning them, and damaging skin tissue, often exposing and sometimes dissolving the bones. Acid attacks can lead to permanent, partial, or complete blindness.

The most common types of acid used in these attacks are sulfuric and nitric acid. Hydrochloric acid is sometimes used but is much less damaging. Aqueous solutions of strongly alkaline materials, such as caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) or ammonia, are used as well, particularly in areas where strong acids are controlled substances.

The long-term consequences of these attacks may include blindness, as well as eye burns, with severe permanent scarring of the face and body, along with far-reaching social, psychological, and economic difficulties.

Today, acid attacks are reported in many parts of the world, though more commonly in developing countries. Between 1999 and 2013, a total of 3,512 Bangladeshi people were attacked with acid, with the rate of cases declining by 15–20% every year since 2002 based on strict legislation against perpetrators and regulation of acid sales. In India, acid attacks are at an all-time high and increasing every year, with 250–300 reported incidents every year, while the "actual number could exceed 1,000, according to Acid Survivors' Trust International".

Although acid attacks occur all over the world, this type of violence is most common in South Asia. Statistics from Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) suggest that 80% of victims worldwide are women.
