I was trying to eat an avocado and while attempting to remove the pit, the knife I was using slipped and went through the avocado, and through a part of my hand.

The doctors had a hard time believing me and one of them thought I was pretty stupid (I agree but still), and they had a harder time believing it didn't hurt much.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17159173688274863.webp I had to go to the bathroom after sitting there with my hand in the iodine bath for over an hour and instead of one of the nurses wrapping it up so I could go, one of them just took my hand out and tossed a rag to me and then said nothing, so I just had to sit there bleeding everywhere.

https://i.watchpeopledie.tv/images/17159173702544308.webp A different nurse wrapped it for me after 15-30 minutes so I could go, then I waited another 30 minutes to get it stitched. I look like a burn victim with the way they wrapped it.

I just wanted to eat a fucking avocado, this shit hurts like hell now. I was in the hospital for almost four hours. I have to keep the wrapping on for two days and I have to leave the stitches in for two weeks. Luckily the nurses doing the stitches said I can have anyone I know who is a certified nurse take them out for me at home, and I know at least four people who are, including my mom and roommate, so after the two weeks are over I can get the stitches out without having to go back to the hospital.

EFFORTPOST Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well, welcome to my write up of the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster!

History of Events

Fourteen thousand people used to live here now it's a ghost town. Chernobyl was one of the most devastating catastrophes to happen in the last 100 years. With an immediate death toll of 30, with another 30+ casualties & more unrecorded in the following decades due to long term radiation poisoning. With the explosion completely destroying the Number 4 Reactor during a low power test along with contaminating 150,000 square kilometres of land across Russia & Ukraine. Radioactive particles were carried across winds, spreading across parts of Europe including Sweden, Finland, The United Kingdom & more. At approximately 1:23 AM a low power test was conducted on the Number 4 Reactor, as the test began an unexpected power surge hit the reactor. Despite the attempts of the facility employees using the emergency shutdown protocol the control rods seemingly jammed while going inside of the reactor causing a reaction starting a fire, leading to two large explosions, causing the entire roof to be blown off of the reactor. Immediately after that the plant goes into a blackout and radiation begins seeping into the air, multiple fires begin to start up, compromising the integrity of the building, causing walls to crumble and equipment to fail. At 1:28 AM the first firefighters respond to the scene completely unaware of the radiation in the surrounding area, little did they know this would be the biggest mistake of their lives. At 1:35 AM firefighters made their way up to the rooftop of the Turbine Hall to fight fires that were raging up top.

Grigorii Khmel, the driver of one of the fire engines, later described what happened:

We arrived there at 10 or 15 minutes to two in the morning… We saw graphite scattered about. Misha asked: “Is that graphite?” I kicked it away. But one of the fighters on the other truck picked it up. “It's hot,” he said. The pieces of graphite were of different sizes, some big, some small, enough to pick them up… We didn't know much about radiation. Even those who worked there had no idea. There was no water left in the trucks. Misha filled a cistern and we aimed the water at the top. Then those boys who died went up to the roof – Vashchik, Kolya and others, and Volodya Pravik…. They went up the ladder … and I never saw them again.

After the arrival of the first responding firefighters, thousands of police began to setup multiple roadblocks around the town of Pripyat and the Chernobyl facility also unaware of the radiation in the area. Around 6:35 AM, 37 fire brigades totalling out to 186 firefighters or so are now at the facility fighting fires and assisting with medical. Some of these men knew the risks yet all of them still risked their lives to stop the fires and rescue people in the buildings.

Helicopters began to drop tons and tons of sand, lead, clay & boron on the burning reactor in an attempt to stop the fires and radiation, it only slightly dropped the radiation levels not doing much also in the process of dumping sand on the fire a helicopter clipped a crane and 4 people died as a result. (Can be seen further down in post)

Chernobyl Suicide Squad

The "Chernobyl Suicide Squad" was a name given to three men who took on a mission that most certainly should've lead to their demise, they were tasked to go under the power plant in hazmat diving suits to swim through radioactive water so they could shut off steam valves to prevent a world wide situation. These three men are Alexei Ananenko, Valeri Bezpalov and Boris Barnov, as they swam through radioactive waters through the blown out basement of the power plant the radiation killed their flashlights. They somehow managed to still find the valves despite the darkness, closing them and preventing a massive meltdown. All three men survived the ordeal going on to live their lives, Boris Barnov died in 2005 from a heart attack but the other two are still alive to this day.

Evacuation of Pripyat

Around 43,000 residents were evacuated from the city of Pripyat due to how close it was to the radiation and explosion, they used buses to get people out of the city only giving them a short amount of time to collect things they needed or wanted to bring. People were under the impression that it was going to be a temporary leave from their homes but unfortunately as it turned out a majority of them never saw their homes ever again.

This here is an excerpt from the evacuation announcement that they sent out to the citizens of Pripyat:

For the attention of the residents of Pripyat! The City Council informs you that due to the accident at Chernobyl Power Station in the city of Pripyat the radioactive conditions in the vicinity are deteriorating. The Communist Party, its officials and the armed forces are taking necessary steps to combat this. Nevertheless, with the view to keep people as safe and healthy as possible, the children being top priority, we need to temporarily evacuate the citizens in the nearest towns of Kiev Oblast. For these reasons, starting from April 27, 1986 2 pm each apartment block will be able to have a bus at its disposal, supervised by the police and the city officials. It is highly advisable to take your documents, some vital personal belongings and a certain amount of food, just in case, with you. The senior executives of public and industrial facilities of the city has decided on the list of employees needed to stay in Pripyat to maintain these facilities in a good working order. All the houses will be guarded by the police during the evacuation period. Comrades, leaving your residences temporarily please make sure you have turned off the lights, electrical equipment and water and shut the windows. Please keep calm and orderly in the process of this short-term evacuation.

Aftermath of Chernobyl

After the explosion some residents of Pripyat could see the flames from afar, they burned in different colors due to the graphite fires inside of the reactor, additionally to that there were hundreds of different types of radioactive particles blowing through the air towards them with the main radioactive element being Caesium-137, nobody watching the flames that night survived due to the heavy amounts of radiation they took on (500 Roentgen, 4.385 Sieverts). The surrounding areas of Chernobyl were heavily affected by the radiation caused by the meltdown of the reactor, even to this day we still see effects of the events that happened almost 40 years ago.

Environmental Effects

Ecosystems were affected by the radiation in a variety of ways, plants and animals were contaminated, agricultural lands were ruined causing the mortality rates of farm animals to raise significantly. Plants and animals were genetically altered from the radiation, causing plants to change shapes amongst other things and animals to gain physical deformities such as two heads. After the explosion a newly discovered species of mushrooms were discovered in the reactor area they seemingly were attracted to the radiation, it came to be discovered that they could actually be used to break down the radiation in the area.

The Elephants Foot

This here is a mass of radioactive materials that formed after the meltdown of the reactor, it is considered by some to be one of the most dangerous radioactive formations in the world. This formation consists of material from the reactor core along with various other metals and components from the reactor, it is has now become a staple of Chernobyl attraction for tourists. Thankfully over the years the radiation has died down quite a bit but to this day it is still dangerous to be around it for more than 5 minutes. The Elephants Foot got it's name due to it's appearance.

Chernobyl Today

Chernobyl is now mostly overgrown with nature, it has become a hotspot for adventurers and explorers alike. There are few people who chose to stay living there mostly original inhabitants not wanting to leave everything behind, also people utilize the help of "Stalkers" to maneuver through Chernobyl.

Man approaches LAPD officers with a knife and gets shot - May 2, 2024

Original video:

Los Angeles, California, United States

On May 2, 2024, at 10:58 a.m., Olympic Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call at an apartment in the 400 block of South Gramercy Place to assist the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) who were attempting to place an individual, later identified as 40-year-old Yong Yang into custody.

The officers met with DMH personnel outside the residence who indicated that the DMH were called to the scene due to Yang's erratic and threatening behavior. The officers were also advised that Yang did not live at the location, and had attempted to assault one of the DMH employees when they attempted to speak with him. Based on their assessment, DMH determined Yang was a danger to others.

In their efforts to assist DMH personnel, the officers requested additional units, a supervisor, and notified the Department's Mental Evaluation Unit. Several attempts were made to communicate with Yang and encourage him to exit the residence; however, he refused. After formulating a plan and obtaining a key to the residence, the officers ascended a narrow staircase leading to the front door. The officers announced their presence and then utilized the key to open the front door. As they did so, Yang was observed standing in the living room several feet away, armed with a large kitchen knife. Moments later, Yang advanced toward the officers and an Officer Involved Shooting occurred.

Yang was struck by gunfire, dropped the knife, and was taken into custody without further incident.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Yang deceased.

No officers or other community members were injured during this incident.

An eleven-inch kitchen knife with a six-inch blade was recovered at scene.

Anchorage police shoot man holding a gun in his hand (original quality) - May 13, 2024

Anchorage, Alaska, United States

Alaska's News Source reviewed home surveillance video of the final moments of 34-year-old Kristopher Handy's life before he was shot and killed by Anchorage police officers early Monday which paints a different picture, as compared to how the shooting was described by the Anchorage Police Department.

Police said they were called to the apartment on the 7100 block of Bearfoot Drive around 2:15 a.m. Monday for a disturbance in one of the units between Handy and a woman.

In a 33-second surveillance video obtained by Alaska's News Source and timestamped beginning at 2:38 a.m., Handy can be seen walking toward the front of the building, yelling obscenities and holding a long gun by his side.

A police loudspeaker can be heard, in part, addressing Handy.

“Anchorage Police Department. Come out ... Kristopher Handy. Put your hands in the air ... Hands up.”

Handy is seen walking down a short flight of stairs, his body illuminated by light from the apartment complex.

He stops and faces police with the gun still visible, pointed downward at his right side. He doesn't appear to raise the gun in the video that was provided to Alaska's News Source.

At least 10 shots can be heard as Handy immediately collapsed to the ground, where his body laid, according to neighbors, for several hours.

The video is in contrast with the narrative Anchorage Police Department gave to reporters on Monday morning in a news conference.

According to police, the officers approached the apartment in two teams, and Handy “raised a long gun towards the officers” before they fired their guns at him.

“Four officers discharged their weapons, striking the adult male once in the upper body — at least once in the upper body,” Chief Designee Bianca Cross said during a Monday media briefing.

After watching the video, Alaska's News Source reporters requested an interview with Anchorage police, pointing out that the surveillance video does not appear to show Handy raising his gun toward officers.

Thursday afternoon police released a statement, in part, saying “We take all OIS incidents very seriously. It is important to us to notify the public in a timely manner when an OIS occurs and to give a synopsis of events as we know them to be at the time. During the press conference we gave the morning of the shooting, we made a statement that was based on the initial account of a witness. Part of that witness' version was that the suspect had raised a long gun towards the officers. As true in all cases, as the investigation progresses and more information is obtained, the more we understand the circumstances surrounding the event. Sometimes what we learn matches what we initially believed to be true and sometimes the facts that develop take the investigation in an entirely new direction.

“Video is prevalent today. It is easy to believe that video tells the entire story however that assumption is untrue. It's important to remember that video does not capture many details to include what happened before the video was activated, what happened after the video was terminated, and what happened outside the view of the camera. It also does not capture the human element of those involved to include their perception, what they see, what they hear, and what they know.

“We understand there may be questions due to the circulating video. This is an ongoing investigation, and our involved officers deserve due process. After the Office of Special Prosecutions (OSP) has concluded the criminal portion of the investigation, and APD's Internal Affairs has concluded the procedural portion, we will be able to address any outstanding questions.”

When asked for an on-camera interview Thursday, an APD spokesperson responded that the department will not be granting any interviews, “as the criminal investigation is ongoing by OSP (Office of Special Prosecutions).”

Alaska's News Source spoke with a woman — who wished to remain anonymous — who says she posted the video online at the request of Handy's family.

“I had very clear camera footage that shows him from the bottom of the steps, going down the deck, going down the steps, and standing at the end of our sidewalk that shows that no point in that timing did he point that gun, so it was disheartening to hear that they felt the need to lie,” the anonymous neighbor said.

Neighbors said police had been called to Handy's apartment several times over the years for various disturbances.

A search of online court records shows that Handy had several criminal charges, including assault charges in June 2023 to which he pled guilty, and a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge in August 2023, which was pending at the time of Handy's death.

Landy & Landy with her boyfriend Jose Luis Betancourt

___

On that fateful week, she was invited to her friend's wedding in the smaller town of Quevedo. She arrived there with her boyfriend Jose Luis Betancourt. When they were at a local restaurant for dinner, two armed men burst in and shot Landy.

The shooting & aftermath

Landy was left lying in a pool of blood, slowly dying next to her boyfriend. The attack was caught on video by a security camera inside the restaurant.

Landy was having a sexual relationship with Leandro Norero. He was one of the most influential drug lords in the area, known as “El Patrón”. He was assassinated in October 2022 by a rival group. Nevertheless, it is believed that this assassination and their sexual relationship had a connection. Some sources claim Landy had received money from Norero.

The two hit men were able to pinpoint Landy's location thanks to her Instagram. She posted a storie with food from the restaurant.
