Diyatalawa, Sri Lanka
A race car veered off the track and crashed into a crowd of spectators and race officials during an event in the town of Diyatalawa, Sri Lanka, on Sunday, killing seven people and injuring 20 others, officials told Bharatha Mallawarachi of the Associated Press.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. The report noted that 45,000 spectators were in attendance at the race circuit at a Sri Lankan military academy for the Fox Hill Supercross event, which was organized by the Sri Lankan army and Sri Lanka Automobile Sports.
Police spokesman Nihal Thalduwa said four officials were among the seven killed when the race car crashed into the crowd. He added that of the 20 being treated at the hospital, three were in critical condition.
The race was suspended following the accident, which occurred during the 17th out of 24 events scheduled. Thalduwa said police have opened an investigation into the crash.

Lima, Peru
This morning, a tragic event occurred in the Barranco district, in Lima. A 24-year-old young man, Antonio Fregero, was brutally murdered inside the 'Casa Bulbo' bar.
According to police, the event took place around 2:00 a.m. when Fregero sought refuge in the premises upon recognizing his attackers. The Police reported that the victim was shot nine times, while three people were injured and were rushed to the Casimiro Ulloa Hospital.
The establishment's security cameras captured the hitmen fleeing towards the Jirón Manuel Segura, where a luxury van was waiting for them. Six bullet casings were found at the scene, indicating that the attackers fired at least 17 times.
The Police consider the possibility of a confrontation between criminal groups as the reason for this violent attack.

Peixoto de Azevedo, Brazil
Pilson Pereira da Silva and Rui Luiz Bogo were shot dead this Sunday afternoon (21), in Peixoto de Azevedo. The city's priest, J.R.D.,45, was shot and remains under medical care. The group was at a party when 2 criminals invaded the place, shooting indiscriminately. The criminals were identified as mother and son.
According to the incident report, investigators were called by the Military Police to attend the scene where a double homicide had occurred. At the address, agents were informed that there were two people dead in the house and one injured in the hospital.
Witnesses reported that it was a birthday party when the shooters arrived and fired their weapons at the guests. In audio attributed to the priest, it is reported that everyone ran when they saw the invaders. The religious man took refuge behind a sofa and one of the shots went through the protection. The bullet “ricocheted” hitting the watch he was wearing.
“I was saved first by the will of God. It bounced off the watch and that's what saved me, otherwise it would have killed me”, he narrated. There is still no information about the motivation for the murders. The suspects are Inês Gemilaki and Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz.
