A young man was involved in an accident due to loss of control during a wild race that left him in a critical condition.

MANILA, Philippines- A senior citizen was killed when he was hit by a tanker while crossing along Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo, Manila.

The victim was identified as Teresita Oliva y Rios, 63, living at 433 Blk 6 Camia Street, Magsaysay Village, Tondo, Manila.

Based on the report of the Manila Traffic Enforcement Unit, the incident occurred at 3 o'clock this Wednesday along the southbound lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard in front of Aroma Compound, Temporary Housing, Barangay 105, Tondo, Manila.

It is said that a tanker truck with license plate NBM 1918 and driven by Danilo Layog y San Vicente, 51, married, and a resident of Brgy. Halayhayin, Siniloan Laguna, the said area when the victim collided with the front of the truck.

After the collision, the victim was still rolled, which was the cause of his death.

The fisherman, identified as A, had been fishing at the reservoir the day before the accident. On the morning of June 21, he left the reservoir with his fishing gear still in the car.

A's SUV crashed into a fence near the reservoir and then plunged into the water. A was trapped inside the sinking SUV and was pronounced dead after being rescued by emergency personnel.

The reservoir is known to be very deep, with water levels high enough to completely submerge a vehicle.

Under general anesthesia via submental endotracheal intubation, surgical access was gained by expanding existing lacerations for skeletal structure visualization. Airway patency was maintained with two nelaton catheters in nostrils after thorough saline irrigation. A 9-hour surgery reconstructed comminuted structures with titanium mesh plates, achieving primary stabilization of mid-facial structures. Both eyes were salvaged, and lacerations were sutured.
