Lars Mittank flew to Varna on June 30, 2014, along with some friends, to spend a week at Golden Sands. During their stay, Mittank noticeably ate very little, but otherwise, the vacation proceeded without incident until the penultimate day.

In the night from July 5 to July 6, 2014, Mittank disappeared briefly while the group visited a fast-food restaurant. His friends later found him in their hotel room. The next morning, he recounted a verbal altercation in which he received a blow to the ear from German football fans, followed by Bulgarians or Russians assaulting him. Mittank sustained only a blow to the ear and was otherwise unharmed.

On July 7, 2014, the scheduled departure day, Mittank complained of hearing loss and severe ear pain. Consequently, he sought medical attention, where a doctor diagnosed a ruptured eardrum. The doctor advised Mittank not to fly with this injury and recommended hospitalization. Mittank, however, declined and opted to stay at an affordable hotel.

Mittank obtained the prescribed medication from a pharmacy and hailed a taxi to take him to an affordable hotel where he planned to spend the night. The taxi driver drove Mittank to the Color Hotel in Varna.

During the night of July 8, 2014, Mittank made several alarming calls and sent SMS messages to his mother in Germany. He asked her to block his credit card and expressed concerns about the hotel without providing further details. Around 3:00 AM, Mittank left the hotel, informing his mother that he was being pursued by four men and was hiding. Shortly after, he sent two SMS messages to his mother, inquiring about the medication Cefzil.

Around 5:00 AM, Mittank was driven by a taxi driver to Varna Airport, where he called his mother again, relieved that he had arrived. She advised him to see the airport doctor for another examination regarding his ability to fly despite his injury. Meanwhile, Mittank's mother booked both a flight and a bus ticket for him and transferred 500 euros via Western Union, which was never withdrawn.

Around 9:00 AM, Mittank sought out the airport doctor for examination. During the consultation, an unknown person entered the room, causing Mittank to abruptly flee the building. He left all his belongings behind and was captured on surveillance cameras climbing over the airport fence and disappearing. To this day, his whereabouts remain unknown.

It is speculated that his unusual behavior may be attributed to side effects of medication, possibly leading to a psychotic episode.

The video shows that the incident occurred at 4:27 pm on April 27. The woman moved a small bench and only tried the second time before jumping over the railing. There was almost no hesitation during the whole process. Surveillance video shows that this is an ordinary afternoon. Although Guangzhou is experiencing a rare tornado, it does not affect the atmosphere in the mall at all.

The woman involved carried a bag on her right shoulder and walked forward without warning. She walked to and looked down. Then she walked straight forward and reached the door of a store.
