:marsey20p: Dude loses blood with each heartbeat

A seriously injured man is lying on the ground. His carotid artery is cut and you can see him losing more and more blood with each heartbeat. The incident was filmed by two bystanders.

You could say he died in a heartbeat

Correct me if I'm wrong but when the blood is bubbly and frothy, isn't that a sign its coming from the lungs? Not to mention, it looks like it spurts out with every breath instead of heartbeat.

dude held that shirt against the wound like he was trying not to crack an egg underneath it. Definitely not getting an "A" for effort, but I guess maybe it's the thought that counts?

*the incident was witnessed by two bystanders, one of whom was recording. Unless you have another video saying otherwise

I totally disagree with the conclusion that it is each heartbeat that is causing each spurt of blood.

Watch the video again. Each gush of blood coincides with each attempt he makes at breathing.

I think he was bleeding into his throat/lungs, and he has lost so much blood already, that he is 'agonal breathing.'

When you body is dying, and close to death, if your body isn't getting enough oxygen, the body tries EXTREMELY hard to breathe, and that's what we see here.

I think he was drowning in his own blood - and trying exceptionally hard to get oxygen into his lungs.

Each gasp caused the blood to spurt out of his throat.

Agreed, it's not nearly quick enough to be a heartbeat

Jump in the discussion.

Agreed. Heart rates are normally 60 to 100 beats per minute, and I think your heart would beat faster after that happened to you - and even 60 beats per second would be faster than he is gushing.

Edited (to correct the mistype beats per second.)

i think it's per minute, not per second, but you're alright

Oopps. THAT would be a fast heart rate.

“I'll just put this towel here and hold it lightly …”

Push. PUSH HARD. Push so hard you feel like you're gonna kill him. Ignore the screams. Make someone call 911 or 999 or whatever your equivalent is.

Just in case any of you reading this ever find yourself in this kind of position.

There was no saving him. But at least the guy kind of sort of half assedly tried, which is better than then the guy filming and the other guy saying "pressure" in the background but not doing anything

I mean, yeah, he's well fucked, but the advice still holds true; push like hell for the best chance of saving someone in a similar position.

People should have the right to kill him on the street just to end his pain. Poor guy.

The guy who padded the wound prolonged his suffering.

Why's he convulsing like that with each heartbeat?

So, I suspect he was stabbed in a downward motion (ice pick grip) and it went down and under his clavicle.

The wound is basically EXACTLY where the subclavian artery is, which feeds DIRECTLY from the right coronary artery.

In layman's terms, that dude is dumping a significant percentage of his blood almost DIRECTLY from his heart to the ground with every heartbeat.

I think that what we're seeing is probably agonal breathing (which can be quite the sight) causing him to tense up and thus spurt even more blood.

Edit: Y'all, don't downvote someone who's just asking a question, yeah?

Probably some type of medical reason that could be explained in medical terms by a medical person.

That was the weakest attempt of trying to save some one 🤣

He couldn't of picked up that towel/shirt less enthusiastically

It's absolutely amazing how he's actively bleeding out and still conscious, you would think the amount of blood already on the ground he'd be passed out RIP
