Probably due to the popularity of the video, he started beating and provoking bees into the nest. The bees attacked them. Both received multiple stings and were taken to hospital in critical condition. Both died.

I've never seen a source, but this is enough stings to be lethal. They are removing the stingers improperly as well, you have to be very careful and use a knife or something to grab onto the barb of the stinger, then slowly slide it out.
Squeezing the stinger will inject more venom. It's possible to gently squeeze the stinger, but extremely difficult. Obviously if it's just a couple stings don't stress about it, but I'd still recommend proper removal.

They are usually gentle and only sting as a last resort, because the stinger detaching will rip off and kill them.
This is in comparison to say yellow jacket wasps, which on the first whack on the hive, they would immediately start attacking.
Both insects are extremely sensitive to vibrations.

As a beekeeper i can confirm THIS was a horrible idea. Some stings brake off the ass end of the bee and it KEEPS pumping venom into the enemy until you get the stinger out of it runs dry (not what you want). Some just sting you through the clothing so the bottom half of those guys is NOT ok ether. Depending on the type of bee... Italian honey bees for example are mostly calm...African honey bees will fuck you up fast. All defend the hive to the death. Not a good way to go. Swelling, heavy feeling in the chest, paranoid feeling of fear which helps drive away predators from the hive, burning and finally hard to breathe than CANT breath. Not. Fun.

Bout 7 years of beekeeping. No its pretty chill depending on the climate. Hot is good but russian bees keep ok in cold. They can be a pain to keep alive sometimes because of pests like hive beetles and wax moths. The honey is awesome and the stings are good for arthritis in the joints but only certain types and small amounts. Yes you can do it as a hobby next to full time work. Biggest thing is make sure they have sunlight its part of how they navigate. You can feed them suger water as a substitute in the winter and make sure your hives are raised above the ground with grease around the pillars of the foundation..ants are a bitch. Most of the time they take care of themselves tho. C.c.d or colony collapse disorder is a real big bitch. They just leave..no reason we can tell just gone lol. Also do not use chemicals they are super sensitive to chemicals you have to watch out for Vero mites as well. And it seems odd but you have to use a chemical to kill a bug on another bug LOL it can be crazy sometimes but they're super sensitive to chemicals so you have to use just the right amount. The main benefit to having them is if there is a garden around you or some type of plant life they pollinate like crazy if you want a big Garden get a beehive. There are other ways to make your garden awesome but combining it with a beehive just makes it explode. It's about $300 or $400 to get started never use plastic in your hive always wood they love wood. I hope you enjoy it. I sure do.
