I'm not trying to be rude I don't get how someone doesn't know how to swim. Is it cause they weren't taught? Fear? I figured out I can swim by jumping off a diving board into a deep end of a pool when I was like 8 and I came back up, I've been in water before but never where I couldn't touch

If heard alot of people say the best thing to do when you come to save a person who's drowning is to punch them in the face, to either knock them out or disorient them so they can't drown you too

I keep seeing a trend: Middle-to-old-aged men thinking they can physically handle WAY more than they can. They get in young peoples' faces, women's' faces, and as soon as the smallest tap comes their way, they're on the ground after they lose their balance and it was far too easy to do. Like, damn you REALLY overestimated yourself if you can't even stay standing when someone gives you one half-hearted push/hit etc. I guess in this particular case, both of these guys overestimated their own physical strength and stamina. And in this one, it did not take much to drown the guy who was supposedly going to save this huge guy, like how was he going to do this enormous feat if THAT was all he had in him, it's just over-confidence and I see it a lot from this age + gender demographic.

if you're ever in a situation where you're near people who can't swim, swim downwards if they latch on to you, they will surely let go. as messed up as it is, they'll drown you to keep themselves alive for another minute

First, I can't believe this was all about a log in the water. Second, if you don't want to die rescuing someone like this, be prepared to have them pull you under to get themselves above the surface. When this happens do not try to swim back up, swim away first while under water and then come back up otherwise you'll keep getting pushed down before you can take a breath.
