This was a fail all around. Let's go over a few facts.
1. It is indeed a crime to give false information such as a false name to an officer who is doing an investigation. This is an arrestable offense, and the officer has the right to break car windows or bust down doors to arrest you.
2. It's common place to wait and get backup before attempting an arrest of a currently passive suspect who is not fleeing, even when it's a lone woman in a car. This makes it safer for both you and the suspect, as well as gives you time to try to talk them into complying with lawful orders without the need for force while you wait for backup.
3. The little shit in the house had no right to shoot the officer, who was not trespassing.
4. This means the little shit who deserved the death he got was 100% in the wrong, and the officer did nothing wrong legally; he was just stupid as described in point 2. I'm glad the cop survived, we need more no-nonsense cops like him (just get backup next time, dumbass).
I'm not at all surprised that practically no one here understands how the law works, which is why we have all those wonderful bodycam videos of bozos like yourselves fucking around with cops and finding out.

You don't need an arrest warrant when you're on the spot and the crime was committed right in front of you or soon before (like cops chasing a bank robber). Or else criminals could run away to their house and be like "nya nya nya nya! You can't get me now until you get an arrest warrant!"
It was legal entry, albeit stupid without backup, and the suspect deserved to be killed for shooting at a cop operating within the law.
