PHILADELPHIA - Gunfire broke out at a Fairmount gas station, killing one person and injuring a private security guard. The shootout took place at a Sunoco gas station on the 900 block of College Avenue, about 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, according to officials.
The armed guard, a 30-year-old man, was on duty inside the store when an armed man, 39, walked into the location with a gun.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore says the suspect confronted the guard after an altercation about the location of a parked barbecue truck.
Surveillance video provided to FOX 29's Steve Keeley shows the moment the armed suspect walked into the gas station, confronting the security guard before gunfire erupted.
Police say gunfire was exchanged between both men, according to video from inside the store.
The security guard, licensed to carry and employed by Pennsylvania State Agency, a security company working with the gas station, was shot in the leg. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and listed as stable.
The 39-year-old man was shot multiple times in the face and in the legs. He died at the hospital.
In the gunfire exchange, one bullet made its way across the street, hitting a second-floor bedroom window. Officials said no one was injured in the home.
Police are actively investigating the scene, including the inside and the outside of the gas station. They did find multiple weapons at the scene, but haven't made any arrests.
No charges have been filed in connection to this incident.

Security guard was an idiot. Firing all those rounds with no regard for what's going on outside the door? He should have attempted to change the angle of attack by moving left or right. The dude was down after the first shot, and the guard had time to move a few feet. One of the rules of firearm safety is to know your target and also WHAT IS BEYOND IT. No need to spray the neighborhood with bullets because of his hardon over finally getting to shoot someone. If someone outside had been killed, the victim's family would have had a field day with lawsuits. If I was in the apartment that got the bullet through the window, I'd be contacting an attorney myself.

Why was he shooting when he was down.

The perp still had the gun in his hand. Watch it closely and you'll see the perp brings the gun back over his chest and pointed in the direction of the guard. Just because someone is down, doesn't mean that they do not still pose a threat.

Why are Americans so quick to pull guns? I'm in Canada and a licensed gun owner but because our gun laws are strict we don't have this bullshit. Shootings over parking spots etc. back in my home country of Russia we don't even have incidents like this where gun control is very tight and only criminals have guns, yet even then we have far less shootings on a per capita basis than America.
If the states were to implement Canada's method for acquiring firearms I believe many issues would be solved but many Americans seem to be adamant that firearms should be easily accessible as if you're living in the trenches if Vicksburg.
In Canada, we have a federally mandated written exam that's on par with a first year university course (average course). You must study for this test for at least a month and have to know not just firearms safety but basically the entire history of firearms and their mechanics, from modern weapons to flint lock and Wheelock and before. After this, and only after passing, do you have the right to attempt the practical in person firearms course, which is still very demanding and not easy. Then, there is up to a 6 month waiting period and you still can't own an ak47 or Tommy gun or anything else that's unnecessary for the average civilian.
This prevents guns going into the hands of stupid (mostly) people. It seems like a fair trade to me. Why are Americans so against these basic measures to ensure safety? Do you not trust your ability to pass a measly first-year-college level exam in order to be considered qualified to use deadly weapons? I love my guns but I would give my rights up any day if that means that everybody else loses their guns too. The whole crime argument that criminals would still have guns, and use them, is stupid and has been proven stupid since the lives saved by nobody (or no stupid legal owners) having guns would far outnumber the incidents where somebody is a victim to violent criminal gun crime, and don't even get me started on the whole "we need them to protect ourselves against the government" argument. America has the best, most advanced military in the world. If they wanted to overtake the country your AR15s won't prevent that.
With all this in mind, why are so many Americans still wanting the whole "buy a mattress get a free gun" way of things to continue. You can't argue with the fact that countries with strict gun ownership have far less gun fatalities. Can anybody admit it's more to do with "I want my guns and want them easily!" Than it is about self protection and government overthrow plots? Thanks!

The whole point of the 2nd amendment is to ensure America doesn't become a failed state like Russia OR Canada, you commie fuck. There's a price to pay for freedom, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that. You know what a goverment does once it disarms its citizens? Whatever the fuck it wants. Did you really just try and justify laws prohibiting law abiding citizens while incentivizing criminals? Take your soft tyrannical power grab, and fuck off back to your bullshit country and stay the fuck away from mine🖕🏾

I'm not trying to disrespect you or your country, in fact I recently visited the USA and I liked it a lot. But what are your thoughts on European countries that have low gun violence, or even countries like Australia or New Zealand where guns are able to be purchased but it's controlled with a registry. Personally I feel like a lot of Americans appear to have a deepseated distrust of government and don't really believe democracy can be upheld without the populace being armed. Which I understand, but I feel like guns wouldnt stop a determined government if they wanted to just eliminate you, they'd use some kind of advanced technology that doesn't allow the population to use their weapons. What do you think?

Shootings went up like crazy in Canada because dumbass Trudeau went three steps too far in his measures and not only banned the legal sale of handguns entirely, but also mandated a long gun registry. Meanwhile, the Liberal government forgot to put money into national security and foreign affairs, so illicit firearms are all over the fucking place being used by dipshit gang members. There's been about five or six shootings in the Metro Vancouver area in the last three months alone -- practically unheard of in the history of Vancouver, at least not since the Bacon brothers ran a major part of the drug trade about 25-30 years ago and were getting heat from every rival gang in the city. Pretty sure there have been multiple active shooters in the last several years, as well, especially in Ontario. Our gun laws were strict, but now they've ultimately been amended to be completely thoughtless and counter-productive.

I know he's saying "really" because he pulled his gun to show that he's a tough guy and he aint scared and because he didn't point it directly at him so it's a little bit unjustified but in my opinion they thought us, only pull out a gun if you're willing to use it or don't pull it at all.

He did point it directly at him, whether intentionally or not. Just didn't start shooting until it was pointed at the ground.
He's lucky this guy very likely didn't intend to shoot him, his draw was extremely slow.

Definitely agree, the dead guy is so used to pulling out his strap like a gangsta he doesn't even realise he points it at whoever is directly in front of him when he does so. I can't be certain but I think the slow draw may have been intentional to not make a twitchy movement and cause the soon-to-be-dead guy to start shooting since he got his out first. Hard to say though, definitely could have just been the worlds slowest draw

In America, you have a right to be armed. If you're going to label one as an Armed Person You should label them both armed. It's like being called a defendant in court which autopsy Causes a bias when in reality we are supposed to be Innocent until proven guilty. I don't agree with him shooting this guy. Back in the day you couldn't shoot someone for simply having a gun. They had to point it at you or be lifting it towards you. Exspecially when you already have the drop on them.

I have a question, why did the security guard put his hands on him and push him when he came through the door? Am I missing something it didn't look like he walked in a part of the store he wasn't allowed to go so why in the world would he put his hands on this man that's the first question that I don't see anyone asking.... What am I missing?
