A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman who was stabbed near a bus stop in north-west London. The woman, 66, was treated by paramedics at the scene in Edgware but died shortly before midday.

A woman working at a nearby hair salon saw the woman stabbed three times by a suspect as he attempted to take her handbag - "The guy was trying to get her handbag but she said ‘no' and fought back. I saw her pull the handbag twice. He pulled her into the road and stabbed her three times."

Another witness claimed that the woman was stabbed in the throat, chin, and twice on her chest.

The woman's murder was London's fifth fatal stabbing in ten days.

Woman is shot dead in Cosme de Farias

A woman was shot dead on Tuesday night (7), on Rua 18 de Outubro, in the Cosme de Farias neighborhood, in Salvador.

According to the Civil Police, the victim, whose identity was not revealed, was executed in the middle of the street.

Preliminary information shows that the woman was killed by drug traffickers in the region. The circumstances, authorship and motivation of the crime will be investigated by the 1st Homicide Police Station (DH/Atlântico).
