A Florida man whose right arm was bitten off by a 10-foot alligator brushed off losing a limb in the attack, because as he puts it, "It's not the end of the world." Jordan Rivera, 23, fell into a pond behind Banditos Bar in Port Charlotte on Sunday shortly before 2 a.m., according to NBC affiliate WBBH in Fort Myers. “I didn't lose my life, I lost an arm, it's not the end of the world,” Rivera told the news outlet during an interview from his hospital bed at the Gulf Coast Medical Center.

A spokesperson for Charlotte County Fire & EMS said personnel responded to an alligator attack about 1:40 a.m.“The responding crew treated a male patient who had an above the elbow amputation of his upper right extremity. Bystanders applied a tourniquet to the patient before we arrived. The patient was airlifted to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft.Myers.”

Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission trappers found and removed the gator that attacked Rivera, WBBH reported. It measured nearly 10 ½ feet and was euthanized, according to the commission.

“ Maywood, IL - Disturbing video of a drunk driving crash that seriously injured an Illinois State Trooper has been released. Leslie Thurow, 61, is sentenced to 13 years in prison for causing the crash that sent ISP Trooper Michael Cokins and four others to the hospital.

Trooper Cokins was conducting a traffic stop in September 2014 on the right shoulder of I-294 when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police say that Thurow then continued driving on I-294 and struck a SUV carrying a family of four. Her vehicle crashed into a concrete median. The SUV carrying the family rolled as a result of the crash.

An investigation revealed that Thurow’s blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit. Her driver’s license was revoked for previous driving under the influence convictions. On December 1, Thurow was formally sentenced to 13 years for the crime.”

Coming home last night from work at around 00:45, we saw a car pull onto SR 183 southbound from Castroville, Ca. The car had their lights off and was driving on the oncoming lane which made us uneasy so we kept our distance. They turned on their lights a little after but continued on the oncoming. They started speeding away from us and passed another vehicle that was in our lane. I thought after passing they would merge back in, but they continued and that's when we noticed big rig lights in the distance. I said to myself, "Crash!" sarcastically as I was expecting the driver to have already moved over, but next thing we see is a big flash. The big rig driver was a little banged up but uninjured and said to me as I approached him, "Hey man you just hit me." confused but I replied to him that it wasn't me and I pointed at the mangled car and told him it was him. His demeanor immediately changed when he realized the gravity of the situation. Several of us looked into the car and could only make out part of the driver as the car was so mangled with blood visible. First responders arrived but by then the car was already engulfed in flames.
