Near Laughlin, Nevada State Police have identified the driver who caused a deadly crash near Laughlin, Nevada that killed three motorcyclists from Utah over the weekend.
Claude Rafiki, 29, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was identified as the driver of the 2020 Freightliner semi-tractor that collided with two motorcycles on Saturday, March 23.
A preliminary investigation found that the Freightliner semi was traveling westbound on SR163 when it crossed the unprotected center median and into the eastbound travel lane, which the motorcyclists were traveling in.
As a result, two riders and one passenger all from Saint George, Utah, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and were pronounced deceased on-scene.
They have been identified as Jeremy George Gebo, a 44-year-old male, Owen Merrell Hart, a 22-year-old male, and Athena Faye Taylor, a 21-year-old female.
Rafiki was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of impaired driving and other related charges.
