I'd be interested. Also angle grinders have the shittiest design in terms of safety...

They're perfectly safe if you use all of the proper safety gear and you're strong enough to man handle it.

What safety gear would protect you from the injury this guy had? A full suite of medieval armor maybe but not much else.

Angle grinders can and will catch and move unexpectedly when they catch on the back side of the disk and you can not brace for that for an 8 hour workday no matter how strong you are. Paying enough attention should prevent that but you have to pay attention to a lot of things with these suckers already, like the amount and place of the material you remove, where you are throwing your sparks so they don't cause a fire or annoy your colleagues.

And finally the worst part: These suckers have the worst switches on them, you either have to push it very hard in an unnatural direction or you can simply click them on, of course everybody does the second option, but then the thing will not turn off even when you let go of it and starts to cut you up.

Angle grinders are way worse from a safety perspective then any other handheld tool.

You wear leather gloves, long sleeves and hang on to it like you're a man.

Sorry mate I don't like shaming people but the fact that you have never used one of those things professionally shows quite badly.

You should never wear gloves when using tools that can catch on them and pull your hand in like a grinder.

Also long sleeves are not going to do shit about a spinning disk.

You are talking shit and try to look tough but unfortunately end up being a cringe tryhard.

The fact that I've never used one professionally, huh?

I hate to break it to you but I've used side grinders of all sizes for pretty much my entire life.

Other than when I was in the military construction work is all I've ever done.

And I've never in my entire life got eaten up by a side grinder.

Also you should wear gloves unless you want to end up in worse shape than the op.

Here's a tip, if a person doesn't have enough ass on them to use one without hurting themselves in the process then they should leave it the fuck alone and go get a job at McDonald's instead.

Are you blind?

Cause gloves don't cover where OPs injuries are.

Apparently you're the one who's never worked using a side grinder.

I'm not talking about a pair of those cheap work gloves I'm talking about the heavy duty gloves made like the ones a welder would wear.

And those come up to almost your elbow....

Right where the OP's injuries are.

Besides why are you trying so hard to make up excuses for this dude's incompetence with a power tool?

I'm sure it hurt but it weren't 10/10. That's somebody twisting your broken femur as it's sticking out of your thigh while they drive bamboo wedges under your fingernails. That's what the guy in my basement said anyway.
