Terrifying moment toddler plunges 30ft after copying his brother 'escalator surf' in shopping centre

The little two-year-old, who was reportedly copying his older brother, was lucky to survive the considerable fall after getting caught by the handrail

This is the terrifying moment a two-year-old boy nearly plunged to his death after copying his brother's 'escalator surfing' antics in a shopping mall.

The surveillance footage, posted on video sharing site Live Leak, shows the tiny child climbing the escalator handrail unattended.

In a terrifying twist, it then pulls him over the edge and he plummets around 30ft to the floor below.

In a second clip taken from cameras on the floor below, the toddler can be seen smashing on to the hard ground from above as shocked staff look on in horror.

The incident occurred at a mall in Dongguan in Guandong province in China on Tuesday.

According to the site, the youngster is now on the mend after several days of life saving surgery.

Needless to say he had had a very lucky escape.

Thanks - I tried these, but they caused a bad infection in my ears as the doctor said, so I had to stop using them :marseysad:

Really frustrating when articles handwave or completey ignore the life changing permanent damage caused by an accident like this

True - they just don't care, as long as there's no death

Yeah especially the psychological damage that's gonna have on the parents of that kid and the other kids that were there. The kids are probably going to forget the event for a couple decades then randomly remember it but the parents are going to be traumatized for life.

The “parents” should've been paying attention to their very small child. They wouldn't have to deal with that trauma if they did their job properly the first time. I fail to understand how they deserve any sympathy tbh when the child could've avoided all that pain and suffering if they just paid attention XD It's a sad world we live in when parents can't be expected to look after the lives they brought into this world.
