When you perforate a hollow organ like your colon, large/small intestines, etc. the contents spill into your abdominal cavity which basically always leads to peritonitis, which then a lot of times leads to sepsis, then septic shock. The shit you carry inside your organs are definitely not meant to be on the outside

Compressed air isn't just wind its highly pressurized air that quickly expands a lot. So if some air got up there it could blast his intestines and he probably died from infection as it took 15 days (sepsis I think it's called) getting infection from your own shit is suprisingly deadly.

It makes me think though, when I was s kid I did dumb shit with air compressors all the time, so it is kind of a freak accident as well, a lot of times people use it to blow dust off their clothes etc, even tho it's deff not recommended it's quite rare for it to kill someone but it can happen even more rapidly if it gets in your veins.

The rectum/colon are mucous tissue. They are very elastic and can fit surprisingly big things in there. The caveat is that it has to be slow. Fast expansion does not allow for adjustment and compliance from the tissue (see Mr. Hands video for another case). Another thing is that the wall of these structures is very contaminated. Whenever it ruptures, all the bacteria that live there (and are harmless when in the right place) spread to his inner abdomen (called peritoneum). The fast expansion and rupture did not kill him instantly, but the pain must have been unbearable. What follows thereafter is a very serious condition called peritonitis and probably sepsis (bacteria in the blood, roughly), which can lead to septic shock (very low blood pressure and high heart rate), which then leads to death. Very hard to treat depending on the bacteria that colonized his abdomen (or the plethora of different species, in this case).

i assume it had some kind of shock wave effect which wrecked the organs, like when people die from an explosion (without getting hit by shrapnel). Although Id rather die by explosion since that most likely knocks you out.
