The young man, who could not move away quickly enough as the lift jerked upwards, is caught between the floor of the lift and the top of the door, where he is crushed to death.
The video footage is from a surveillance camera fixed inside the malfunctioning lift at Huaqiao University, in the city of Xiamen in south-east China's Fujian Province.
Rescue workers rushed to free the young man's body, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffocating because his lungs were crushed and he was unable to breathe.

His tongue. He looked as if he was suffocating due to his torso being crushed. If you look closer, you can see that he was posturing and either seizing due to the lack of oxygen getting to his brain, or he was Agonal breathing. If you look at suffocation deaths, most of the time their tongue (most of the time, eyes stick out too) sticks out because of the build up of blood pressure in the parts not being crushed or because they unconsciously open their mouth as wide as possible to get more oxygen in. It could also be blood, if his vital organs were crushed, they could've haemorrhaged and the only place for it to come out of was his mouth and nose (it didn't look like anything was punctured).
