A worker died during a paving operation in Ponta Grossa, in the state of Campos Gerais, Paraná. According to the city hall, the man was hit by the rim of a tire that burst on Saturday morning (9).
Davi José da Silva Lima was 56 years old and an employee of a company contracted by the City Hall to do paving work in the city.
According to the city's Department of Public Works, the man was working as a rake at a construction site in the center of the city when the tire exploded. As a result, the rim and it's fragments hit the victim's neck.
The Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and the fire department were called, but the man did not survive his injuries and died at the scene.
The mayor of Ponta Grossa, Elizabeth Schmidt (PSD), was at the scene when the accident occurred.
The City Hall said that it will provide all necessary assistance to the worker's family and will cooperate in the investigation into the cause of the accident.
The Municipal Department of Public Works also stated that the machine had been inspected and that the tire that burst was semi-new.
A city crew is expected to complete paving work at the site later this Saturday afternoon.

Title of video is likely a misnomer. They likely meant to say that the tire exploded, not the wheel itself. Chunks of rubber with steel cords embedded inside will fly at speeds of around 100 miles per hour. That shit knocked his helmet clean off.
