19 years old woman identified as Valeria Shurkova was walking down Ordzhonikidze Street in Voronezh.

Suddenly a tree fell onto her. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but she died on June 27.

Really sad. This is a perfect example of terrible luck. Basically nothing she could've done, maybe if she wasn't listening to loud music (which is impossible to tell) she might've been able to hear/react quicker. Still I know my zombie ass in the morning, without any music could easily have done the same glance backwards at the cracking noises and not been able to react. How often do you expect a random tree you're not paying attention to will fall over and happen to hit YOU? It never happens, unless you're this extremely unfortunate young woman. Rip. Entire family devastated because of such a freak occurrence.

  • If it does turn out that the company upon which property the tree stood, has failed in having it cut down then there's obviously criminal malpractice at work. No idea how this shit works in Russia but around here the municipality generally trim questionable tree branches and clear any trees that are beginning to lean heavily.
