The heat from the fires on top caused a rise in pressure and heat up of some of the air raid shelters that were cramped with civilians. If being pressure cooked alive wasn't enough, all the flesh of the civilians turned into a liquid. When the fires stopped and soldiers checked out said shelters all that was left was horrendous smelling liquid and bones.
