OK, here's a non-sarcastic non-Reddit comment.
It's often (from literature, and my own experience) that patients sustain significant fractures in their wrists/forearms in traffic accidents. Be it from the airbag, or from bracing from the impact, the wrists take much of the initial force. It's enough to break your wrists from a simple fall from standing level, and this is a very extreme, yet similar, mechanism of injury.
I seen a guy who had an open fracture of his radius, and all he did was take a corner wrong and hit a kerb a bit too hard.
