So... the original plan was to crack through the ice and get swept down the river under the ice? Dude was lucky he went out fast like this.

The original plan consisted of an idea, but the braincell they were sharing overheated before it could consider consequences. That's usually the phase where plans get scrapped.

It's amazing how some people just do things without actually considering exactly what they're about to do. They seemingly lack any and all forms of insight. They just respond to the consequences as they arrive instead of trying to predict the outcomes of their actions to rule out the ones that could have consequences that outweigh... whatever benefit they figured doing that would bring them.

Nobody can consistently and accurately consider every possible outcome before they act - and that's when accidents happen, but there were multiple people present and not a single one of them was capable of anything but surface level thought. If that guy thought it'd be fun to set himself on fire, they'd agree and do it before they had a chance to consider how they'd extinguish the flames. The company you surround yourself is important, especially if you're retarded. Ideally a retard would seek friends who say stuff like "ah, don't drink paint thinner, that's a bad idea. It won't make you more slim because this is paint thinner and you're not paint"

Then again, a retard wouldn't be a retard if they could naturally realise this.
