On December 7th 2023 an eight grader shot up Gymnasium No. 5 in the city of Bryansk, killing one and injuring five using her father's pump action shotgun before ending her own life. According to local media one of the injured is in crictical condition.

Shooter's name is Alina Afanaskina, 14 year old student from 8-"A" class at Bryank's 5th Gymnasium (formerly School #70).
According to multiple news sources the motive is relentless bullying at the behest of her classmates.
