The aftermath of spontaneous human combustion (SHC).

Spontaneous human combustion is the phenomena of a human body igniting seemingly without a reason. It's still unknown exactly what causes shc and it's commonly debated on what causes this phenomena and if it's even real. There's still much we don't know about this.

Anyways, here are two cases of shc.

Mary Reeser

March 8, 1884 - July 2, 1951 (67 years old)

She was found after her landlady checked on her and found that the doorknob was strangely warm. She called authorities and they found Mary, or what was left of her. She was a pile of ash on a burned chair. Her only body part that remained was one of her legs. It's speculated that she had taken sleeping pills, then sat down to smoke a cigarette. She then fell asleep and the cigarette caught her clothes on fire.

John Bentley

April 15, 1874 - December 5, 1966 (92 years old)

He was found after a meter reader went to his house. When he knocked he received no answer, which concerned him as John is a 92 year old man. He entered the house and went to the basement to check the meter, but found himself surrounded by a weird sweet smell and bluish smoke. He then noticed a pile of ash on the ground and a hole in the ceiling above him. He went upstairs and to the bathroom. There he found what was left of John, which was some ash and his right leg. His walker is seen laying across the hole in the floor.

There are, of course, other cases, but these are some of the only ones that I could confirm that the photos matched the case. It can get a bit sketchy in a few of the other cases and there aren't many pictures of this phenomena. If you have anything else to add, please feel free to do so.

All victims of spontaneous human combustion are both old and therefore prone to strokes, heart attacks and other conditions that may render them immobile, and also smokers or near another source of fire.

Seems too much to just be a coincidence.

I'm plenty aware of the many causes that could have caused these people to die in such a strange way, as I wrote in the post and comments. This was just a look into what people deem as SHC and the aftermath of their strange deaths. I was interested by it, so I wrote about it.
