CHILD WARNING repost [child warning] Burari Hanging: family of 11 found hanging

10 members of the Chundawat (aka Bhatia) family of Burari’s Sant Nagar neighborhood were found hanging from a grate at home in July 2018. The 11th family member and matriarch, was found partially hanged from a wardrobe in an adjacent bedroom.

Three generations- aged 15 to 77 years- were found dead by neighbors, with the only surviving member of the family, their dog Tommy, tied up on the roof of the home.

Everyone was bound, blindfolded, ear-plugged, and gagged, with taped mouths. Officially the deaths have been ruled an accidental murder/suicide. Diaries found in the home revealed a step-by-step plan to perform a “banyan tree ritual,” organized by an Uncle, with evidence showing they were expecting to survive the ritual.

The uncle, Lalit, had assumed the role of family patriarch after the passing of his father. Unfortunately, Lalit had suffered several serious traumas during the course of his life. He experienced a traumatic brain injury from a motorbike accident in his youth. He was intentionally locked in a shack and almost burned to death during a dispute at work, and barely survived. He was believed to have been suffering from untreated post traumatic stress disorder from the intentional fire.

The line between psychosis and spirituality was surely blurred at the time of the deaths.

Tommy was rescued by an animal outreach organization.

There is allegedly a 2 minute long video captured by one of the neighbors, before the police arrived morning of. If anyone has it, please share it in the comments.
