A Elderly man was stabbed while on a video call with his son

An elderly man was killed by a man suspected of being a robber in his home on Klambir Lima Street, Medan Helvetia District, Medan City, North Sumatra, on Monday (18/3/2024) night.

The incident occurred while the elderly man was on a video call with his son. The victim was found dead with stab wounds on his back. The victim, named Bima Peranginangin (82), was found sitting on the living room floor covered in blood.

Personnel from the Medan Helvetia Police Station, along with the identification team from the Medan Metropolitan Police, went to the scene and immediately processed the crime scene and questioned several witnesses.

The officers then evacuated the victim's body to Bhayangkara Hospital Medan for autopsy purposes.

Irfan Sinaga, a neighbor of the victim, said that the robbery and murder incident occurred around 22.00 WIB at night.

At that time, the victim was receiving a video call from his son who was out of town. The son informed the victim that there was someone behind him.

The victim shouted for help from his neighbors and went outside. After informing the neighbor, the victim went back into his house and was suddenly attacked with a sharp weapon by a man waiting inside the house.

"It happened when the victim was video calling with his son, his son said there was someone behind him. So, the victim went out to Alex place, the barber. Shortly after, the victim returned home alone and was stabbed from behind. Alex ran away because the perpetrator had a sharp weapon," said Irfan, on Tuesday (19/3/2024).
