I've seen this before in some societies where their justice systems wants to display the criminal with the weapon, or walking through the crime scene - almost as to bring it to life for the others viewing as witnesses.

There are some quite different ways of doing things in different justice systems around the world.

Italy convicted scientists for not predicting an earthquake.

"An Italian court convicted seven scientists and experts of manslaughter on Monday for failing to adequately warn citizens before an earthquake struck L'Aquila in central Italy in 2009, killing more than 300 people. The court in L'Aquila sentenced the defendants to six years in prison."

Some 'courts' in shitholes still to this day convict people of being witches - and sentence them to death by burning. Of course, those are in backwater shitty little towns in Africa.
