Oh my god, the woman at 13 seconds in. I literally thought she was white for a split second. And to be clear I’m not trying to make some dumb kind of skin color joke. I’m saying quite literally, I thought I was looking at a white woman whose dark clothing had burned away in places. But I’m looking at a black woman whose flesh has burned away in places.

She’s as good as dead, right? Burns over 90+ percent of her body, much of it 3rd degree? Fuck, burning but being kept alive for (???) in a burn ward has to be one of the worst ways to go.

I feel like most of the people seen in this video died. They're just walking due to adrenaline and shock.

The USA has a lot of documentation on this. It was a while ago, but I recall the 50% of mortality being around 70% of burn coverage. 90%-100% burn coverage still had less than 90% of mortality.

The larger problem is that it is a very cumbersome healing process. They can't just drop you in a bed in a corridor. The largest resulting complication is infections due to your outer skin being gone. The only place where you can be cared for is in a hospital, which is one of the most likely places to get infection, when you didn't already have one.

The woman at 52 seconds in is even worse. You can tell she is black only by her foot.
