I finished reading Anne Frank's diary the other day, and it was profoundly disturbing to understand that this was her fate. Sometimes it's difficult when looking at these images to make the connection that every single one of these bodies were unique individuals like Anne, but somehow even just seeing a name, like Margit Schwartz, next to one of the pictures is humanizing.
