High School Teacher has Throat Slit by Kite String

A teacher from the state education network, identified as Cândida de Nazaré da Silva, 35 years old, died after being hit by a line with cerol in Ponte do Baralho (Ilha do Bispo), a location that connects João Pessoa to the city of Bayeux. The victim had a vicious cut on her neck and fell to the ground, clutching her throat and rolling around in agony.

A resident who lives close to the accident said that the woman was riding a motorcycle when she was rode straight into the kite line as she approached a bridge. Residents of the region called SAMU to help her, but she succumbed to her injury and died at the scene.

It was later determined that the line she hit was a kite line that had been cut and had drifted across the road. The line was coated with cerol, which is what proved fatal for her.

Cerol is a mixture of glue with small pieces of ground glass that are applied to kite lines with the purpose of cutting the lines of other opposing kites in the favela sport of 'kite fighting'. Lines with wax have an enormous cutting capacity and cause deep wounds that are potentially fatal when they reach the neck region, and when they do not kill, they leave catastrophic injuries on their victims.

It's a crazy story like in "final destination".

Besides, if we were in the film I would say that she didn't know how to read the signs, because we see the mark on her neck in the ante mortem photo. :dudeweedlmao:

More seriously, I wonder how that flying rope could have done that. :derpthinking:

This is a problem in Brazil. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen this happen on here

I've seen this a few times before but always when there was a kite on one side and a human on the other to put tension on the rope...

How can a rope that flies freely cut a throat?

I have a hypothesis concerning the winding of the rope around a wheel of the motorcycle and the neck, but nothing proves it in the images.

Note the barricades on each side of the road. It might have snagged on those and ended up strung between them.

(Edit: Just saw that this is actually written in this article too.) Read before that the kite people glue pieces of glass on their kite string to cut other people's kite strings in the air. Then there are strands of glass covered strings floating around for motorcyclists to get close lined by. There was a video on here of a guy hitting one with aftermath iirc.
