Holy fuck his chest cavity is totally hollow as well. I wonder how heavy the body was. Looked like it wasn’t much heavier than a bundle of sticks. I wonder if they actually eat flesh that fast or if the body was in there a whole? The way the head and hands are preserved makes me think it was a ton of them all at once ? Like more than usual?

Piranhas are scavangers and will only eat 'dead meat'. but their diet mostly consist of other fish, crustations, bugs, vegetation, dead animals that happen to end up in the water ect.
The boy was most likely already dead or gravely injured when he was eaten. But yes they do eat carcasses insanely fast, and its almost impossible to see it happen as they swarm it so fast.
I've worked in an aquarium for some years and we have a big school of about 300+ amazon redbellied piranhas. We often dive with them to clean the glass on the inside of the tank, and they are harmless and wont even get anywhere near you.

but if some piranhas get into a low swampy area where they cannot move or find food
they will destroy everything that’s in the same water area until they die of starvation but will eat an entire live elephant in a pond, when starved. just adding more facts
