Unfortunate incident. I'm a lifelong horse woman- once they scare, it doesn't matter if they are dragging tack or cart, or a body- fight or flight's a real thing. I had a very broken wrist from my own horse, he literally ran me over, and another kicked me in the eye, causing a detached retina some years later.

The horse kicks out early in the video while she's hanging and I think contacted her head then. Usually they will try to avoid running people over but once in panic- whole 'nother deal. Especially when performing in an arena, I've seen a lot of wrecks.

Haha.

It used to connote a female person who owned, showed, and rode horses. But if you were to ask my husband he'd say maybe I have hooves (the cloven variety though)

It gives a good sense of how very powerful these animals really are. There was not stopping it once it got scared as you well say. So very sad.

We had a 4 draft pony team who panicked, and though the driver had the reins pulled almost behind him, they slammed into the closed arena door, and turned the wagon and horses over. Broke the door to splintered wreck. Ponies were ok, one was injured but not seriously. If they'd hit me (I tried to grab a rein) I'd have been creamed by the wagon and likely dead. It was a terrifying 10 seconds that took an hour in my head as I decided to jump out of the way. That was the last time I showed any horse in an arena. A high speed wreck with horses and wagons is absolutely terrifying.

That's crazy! I got kicked in the stomach once when I was 10 by a pony and that shit launched me into Timbuktu.

I only rode horses for four years, got kicked, bitten, bucked off, and one tripped and fell on my leg. I stay far away from them now.
