When animals strike back! Whether it's matadors messing with the bull and getting the horns, pibbles doing what they do best and mauling someone who did absolutely nothing, a rampaging elephant, a shark attack, whatever - that all goes here!

THIS IS AMAZING! I have seen a hell of a lot of animal attack videos, don't think I've ever seen a tiger attack in the wild --- oh, except that one where the girl gets out of the car in a wild park/reserve. Is there any more video, or do you have any more info on the incident?

The funny thing is. If those three guys didnt run and instead stood and ran/screamed at the tiger, it probably would've ran away.
Funny how human instinct leads us doing things that gets us killed, this type of stuff makes me believe that evolution is true/we evolved from small mammalians (hence why we have that flight instinct, it evolved when we were too small and animal to actually "fight" back)

we're still WAY too small to fight back against a tiger. I do not think this tiger would have run away. Tigers, polar bears, and crocs are pretty much the only animals that see humans as food. Other animals will eat a human if something is wrong, or if it's terribly convenient, but these 3 actually hunt us. This tiger was hunting --- you can see by its body language and ambush approach.

Polar bears are the only animal that supposedly has no fear of a human. Every other animal has some fear for us.
I don't think they're scared of humans specifically, all animals are scared of getting hurt/injured, if they think their 'target' is able to injure them they would run off because of fear of pain (like how you move your hand off a hot kettle, there's no advanced thinking to it, just primitive reflex). Things animals do to make themselves look stronger than they are is staring/facing towards their predator and either running to them or screaming at them.
A human would think of odds of beating a fight but an animal doesnt have this mental capacity, they would see three things being tough and think "they're strong, they might hurt me, I better leave"
edit: I never said they should fight the tiger, of course they're going to lose if they did, I meant if they tried intimidating the tiger by doing things you normally would do to intimidate a house-cat or a person you want to fight

I'll stand by my trifecta of crocodile, polar bear, and tiger. There's a nifty documentary on the human-hunting tigers of the Sundurbans. I don't think intimidation works with any of these three if they're hunting you.
I studied a bit of animal behavior game theory, and animals behave as if they ARE doing extensive complicated math and logic problems in their tiny heads, which has always been mysterious to me. How do they do that??? But they do it for things much more complex, uncertain, and difficult to predict than the outcome of a fight. It's nuts!
For example, when deciding how many eggs to lay for a clutch, the momma-bird has to calculate how many she can keep alive (she "figures it out" by considering her health, the date of the first rain, average daily temperature, hours of sunlight per day. 12. She figures out that she'll maximize her surviving offspring by laying 12 eggs. So why does she only lay 10??
Because she's still not finished figuring! Her final calculation, the one that lops off two offspring --- well, it's kind-of fun to think it through and figure out why.

Answer: The goal isn't to maximize one's surviving offspring this year, but over one;s entire lifespan. You might successfully raise 12 this year, but if it's nipping off five breeding years of life then it's a net loss.
